I must say I'm really intrigued by the commercials that run currently on television about VR systems. My son is also looking forward to the Daydream arriving.

For those who know all about it, what should someone like me plan for? What needs to be downloaded? What would be the best beginner experience into the VR world? Basically, how would one get started once the headset arrives?

Thanks,

You'll certainly need Daydream. Probably also want to pick up Daydream Keyboard. Also, Google VR Services may or may not be necessary - I don't know if that is an updated app for Cardboard and Daydream, or a core requirement.

Google's presentation made it appear that you should basically be able to just slot in your phone and be ready to go, though I wouldn't be surprised if on doing so there are some basic steps required for settings.

Also, CNET posted a list of available apps here.
