dead area on touch screen

Hey guys,
I just started noticing that the space bar and buttons next to it in portrait view are non responsive. To get a space, I have to actually press down. Anyone else experience this or have any ideas? Thanks.

Have you tried a different keyboard app (such as Swype or Swiftkey) to see if the issue persists? Swype automatically puts in spaces. You can get it at beta.swype.com

do you know if the problem is only on keyboard? do those parts of the screen work normally in any other app?
