Hello everybody

I have a Galaxy Tab A 10.1, specifically the SM-P585 model with S Pen. The thing is that a few days ago the screen died. However, althought it's completely black and not showing any image, it's still responsive to touch. I can notice that because I am able to do things such as activate or deactivate the Wi-Fi by touching the screen in the place where the Wi-Fi icon should be.

Considering that it's likely that just the display part of the screen is not working, while the touch responsiveness seems to be fine, what kind of damage it could be? Do you think it could be bad enough to need to replace the whole screen, or could be just a connector issue?

Also, for example, when connecting the tablet to my Windows computer, the computer makes the corresponding sounds when connecting or disconnecting some peripheral, so the tablet is pretty much alive despite the display issues. I think that someone accidentally might have sit over the tablet, but it doesn't seem to have any kind of external damage, and also it's protected by a screen protector and a hard case.

Is there any internal connector that has to do only with the display part of the screen, but not with the touch responsiveness?

Thanks!

The "touch part", the digitizer, is the cheap part of the screen, and new screens come with digitizers ("touch parts) attached. I suspect, though - especially if the pen works, since that's the bottom layer of the screen) that the LED layer is gone. (It could be the plug - if you have experience with opening tablets, you could open it and make sure that the connector is seated.)

If you're going to open it, and it's a bad screen, you can find new ones on eBay for about $65.

This is the common problem of Tab A 10.1, Wifi or LTE : loose LCD cable. Remove the back cover and remove the tape cover the LCD connector, look closely you will see the line on LCD cable is under the line on mainboard a little bit, indicates it't not fully seated.

Lift the black tab up then push the LCD cable all the way in. Be careful with this plastic tab, it's easily broken if you don't lift up evenly.
Most people don't know how or find the replacement of LCD connector, the mainboard has to be replaced.
Search youtube video how to do it, it's a simple task to do but most novices will break it with careless or without searching how to open the connector of LCD.
They end up to replace the mainboard due to broken LCD connector.
Don't forget to disconnect battery before reseat the LCD cable. After reseat LCD cable and connect back the battery, you can power on to see it works. Then secure the connector with new tape.
This is how to secure the LCD cable properly in model T580 and P580 (Wifi ), T585, P585 ( LTE )
