Debating whether to get Juice Defender

Hey all,

I was curious if any bionic users are currently using Juice Defender to help save some battery. I was thinking about purchasing the "Ultimate" version for 4 or 5 bucks. Can anybody recommend this app, or any other apps. My only complaint i had with Juice Defender in the past is that it kept disabling my 3G and took forever to get my data back up and going.

Thanks for all advice and suggestions

Don't waste your money. It's been known for a long while by the Android/Linux experts that task managers do more harm than good.

I got the free version. It doesn't seem to do anything I can't do myself, but at inopportune times. I have it, but I'm not using it, and this thread is reminding me to uninstall it.

I tried JuiceDefender on my Eris and it helped only marginally - something like after 12 hours I would have 52% battery left rather than 50%. I don't think it's worth it, and it was frustrating to wait for data to reconnect when you powered the phone on and wanted to do something with data. (Of course that may be better with the Bionic, but the Bionic so far has better battery usage than the Eris did.)

It's not exactly like an automatic task manager that you should avoid, but I think the battery savings are too small and not worth the hassle, at least in my experience.

I guess I'm in the minority here but I use the free version all the time. When I first bought the Bionic I was having to plug it in when I got home from work. With JuiceDefender I don't have to plug it in till bedtime. It can interfere with some apps or widgets (like weather widgets) that need frequent updates but seems like a good trade off for better battery life. Just my 2 cents.....

i didn't see any difference in having juice defender on my evo. so i'm not installing on my droid.

Juicedefender improved my Droid Charge battery from 4 hours to 8... Although I have to turn it off and restart it to use data aside from email.

i used juice defender for a few weeks when i first got my bionic. Sure it saved a little battery but it is pain to get 3g/4g data back when you wake up your phone from being idle. I've had occasions where I had to reboot my phone to get it back.

I uninstalled it and really cant tell the difference in time between charges.

Settings battery & data battery mode. Then maximum settings. That's all u need. I use and prefer it over juice. This is a nice feature from Motorola another reason why they have better battery performance

juice defender gave me a placebo effect and also would always drop out of 3g/4g also some calls would go straight to voicemail. uninstalled and am a bit happier with phone . problem is a paid for the ultimate version , smh
