December Security Update?

Why bother, all smartphones are pretty much the same. Best to wait 4 or 5 years and upgrade.
Idk 4 years in tech especially 5 is a long time in the tech world. No device that old including an iPhone would be operating fast enough for me not to mention what the battery life would be if you were still using the original battery.

Really , why?

I have had Nexus and Pixel phones exclusively since the Nexus 5. The deciding factor was always timely and consistent updates (mostly concerned with security patches). I have never had to sideload. It is easy and I know how to do it (used to do a lot of ROMs), but i should not have to. Two months in a row is the start of a trend. I'm not going to buy a new phone today, but if we get to three or four months of not getting the update, then i will probably just switch to an iPhone where I will get the updates.

I am not sure if the issue is Google or Verizon (unlocked phone on Verizon), but it seems Google doesn't have the clout that Apple does to tell the carriers to pound sand. My expectation (and experience until the Pixel 6) of Google phones was that I would get updates when released.

It is not meeting my expectations (my number 1 criteria for the purchase) and I know I can get one that will. I will probably live with it until the iPhone 14, but if I'm still having to sideload updates next September, that will likely be the end of my Android days.

I also had nexus 5x,nexus 6p,2xl,3xl,3a,4xl,5 and now 6p all unlocked from Google using between my Att/TMO sims still have my 5x and 4xl :)

They will get back on track with updates , it happens , i wouldn't worry too much.

I find it fascinating that there are so many complaints about the updates being delayed. you use the device EVERY day. 99% of the phone will operate exactly the same after the update. Nothing in any update is as amazing as actually getting the new device. is anyone really missing out on anything so critical if your update is a week or even 2 weeks late?

You're absolutely right, of course, but I do think it would improve things a great deal if Google were a bit more transparent regarding such things.

The stony silence, or the cryptic "information" which dribbles out cause a lot of anxiety which could be eliminated very easily.

Actually they have a fix coming so hearing aids will link back up to your phone. Right now hearing aids for some reason do not link to the pixel 6 and the update is supposed to fix it. They worked on my pixel 3a XL and all my other Pixel phones. So that is an important update.

Agreed, but if you don't know by now some of the forums users will always find something to complain about and make it their reason for choosing Apple. Trust me once the updates have been addressed it will be something else .

Why do you keep dismissing my comments? I have not said that my use case is anyone's but mine. This is a forum specifically for the Android and the Pixel 6. I bought a device for certain features. It is not presenting those. I voiced a concern and you have been dismissive. If I were commenting on some non-Android, non-Pixel 6 forum I would agree that my comment is a "first world problem" as you said before, but here I assumed my comments were welcome.

I suppose I'll be back when I only have 100% glowing comments to present.

Guys dont be like this , we can voice out concerns and lets not make this sour we all see each other around in the forums with same device or different ones .

Still no update for me...I've been constantly refreshing LOL. Guess I'll just try waiting patiently.

My comment was a general statement. Apologies if you felt otherwise, but trust it was not towards you personally. Your choice is YOUR choice and doesn't affect my engagement in any topic discussion.
