Deciding if my phone is defective....

I've compared my phone with a friend's Fascinate and was put to shame.... we both put the same video file onto our respective phones and tried to play the movie; the movie played beautifully on his phone, no problems, but on my phone the video was so choppy that it was unwatchable, it almost seemed like the phone wasn't able to process the video fast enough so it was lagging. Is this supposed to happen with all t-bolts or is it just mine?

My thunderbolt does the same thing. the video converter i have on my mac i had to up the video and audio bit rates to maximum but i still get some picture chopp and some audio distortion/blippy only when people are speaking on the movie no other parts of the movies are affected which is weird. Also the audio distortion only occurs with headphones i tested a youtube video and no audio distortion. So my guess it is the tbolts video player or the way it processes video. or it could be my video converter which it isnt because i test the movies after i convert them and they play perfect on my computer except for a very slight audio distortion at random. But all distortions and picture jumpyness are magnified by 2-3 times on my thunderbolt. Which leads me to believe that the thunderbolts graphics/video/audio card may not be up to the task of playing mp4 movies even with the newest codec .264.

But i am pondering the idea of returning the tbolt and waiting for the Droid Bionic which has Nvida graphics processor and larger battery which may yield better battery life.

Sorry, but it sounds like it is just yours. If you are really concerned about it you should bring it into to a store and have them look at it... I'm sure they will replace it if there is an issue.

Not so at all! It is your phone. I have payed movies and videos with no problems, 0, zilch, nada.

Could it be that i'm trying to play a 720p avi file using rock player? Even still I don't think it should be unwatchable?

Perhaps i'll go into a verizon store tomorrow and have the video loaded on the sd card and have them see if it'll play normally on a different phone. Let's hope for the best.
