Decision time... And the S3 (SIII?) is one of them.

With the iPhone "5" announcement coming up (relevancy to be discussed) and my contract due to expire, it's time for an upgrade. After living with an HTC Inspire for the past year, (which has become very annoying) and for the past few months (due to the Inspire), a 3GS, I have been exploring my options. And the S3 seems like the most promising. As much as I want a GNex, I cannot fathom not being able to try one in person (although, I suppose I could always walk into a Sprint store ;) ) and I do kinda want LTE (especially considering that I live where the LTE is abundant). So, what do current owners of S3s think? I acknowledge that there are probably tons of repeat posts, but I just want to be thorough. :)

Some points I want to ask about:

Battery life? (How much do you use your phone and how much is left at the end of the day? For me, it's browsing, a pocket of YouTube and some light reading, so far.)
Performance? (Not data speed; Is it ever jittery or is it always smooth?)
The UI? (To each their own, but what is your opinion on TouchWiz?)
etc.

I have no experience with the s3 however i am going to be switching to it in the comming days because its more promising then the one x. I like having tons of games and media on my phone for when im bored but the one x's 10Gbs(i know they say 16 but only 10 is usable.. ) thats not possible,i can only have about 4 hd games since they take up 2Gbs of data each. I honestly do not care for a removeable battery,i am a heavy user. But i get 12+ hours on my one x so with the s3 im bound to get more. Id say the s3 is your best bet my friend.

Give the SIII a chance. I went from a 4s to the SIII and couldn't be happier. Sure the 5 is coming out and it will be shiny and new but after a few weeks ios will grow stale because of its lack of customization. With the SIII, or any other Android device, you can customize your device to your heart's content. Heck, you can even make your SIII look like ios.

Try the SIII, you won't be sorry.

I love my s3 always smooth decent battery life and reliable ...it's amazing for web browsing video watching and Much more...but I am going to pay close attention to the iPhone 5 and if it woes me I might consider getting it ..but I would atleast wait for the 5 to get announced try one of them and if yu dont like it return it for the other

I think the carrier you're with may be part of the puzzle as well. Since I've been with ATT for years, not only am I getting some stunning speeds, but the upgrade price on the phone was amazing due to some negotiations I had with a supervisor in Customer Service. After owning an iPhone for 4 years, I could never go back. And once you have a 4.8" screen, anything smaller isn't going to make it. If the new iPhone is the 3.9" screen all the leaked shots have shown, it's still far too small.

The GS3 is silky smooth and fast as heck too. The camera is pretty amazing, especially with all the settings provided. Also Samsung has done a great job on the motion gestures, and Touch Wiz UI makes the transition from iOS to Android easy. I'm in an LTE area, though there aren't many towers up everywhere yet. Battery life has been outstanding though I took careful measures to calibrate the battery at the beginning and use Juice Defender and Power Saving mode too.. No complaints whatsoever and the phone quality is outstanding. Picked up the Acase Superleggera dual case for it since it's pretty slippery :)

I love the integration with Google's other apps, location services, etc. and knowing Google Now will be available to us soon in Jelly Bean makes the GS3 an even better device. It's like the one page ad Samsung broke in all the major Sunday paper's last weekend.. "The next greatest thing is already here".. I've definitely become an Android convert and will never go back to the Apple ecosystem.

i love my s3 i get 4 hrs screen time and around 20 plus hours per charge....i am rooted using custom stock rom..im not in lte land but still get good data speed benchmarks on antutu are around10,000 and 6500 on quadrant over all i like the phone just hate how sammy went about not letting users move apps to SD card

I think given you have a phone with a 4.3" screen going to an iPhone, even if the iP5 is 4" is going to be hard. I still have my iP4 as I have some apps that I don't want to repurchase on my S3, when using the iP4 it's almost comical now, a little toy almost. You mentioned reading, I use my S3 with the Kindle app and it is amazing compared to the iP4, the extra screen is so nice. Battery is decent, not as good as the iP4 but from what I've heard/read better than the iP4s, who knows about the 5, probably will be similar.

I have had a s3 for about 2 weeks coming from a ip4. Battery life has been about the same as my ip4 last all day and about 30-40% at bedtime ready for charge. I really only have 2 complaints on the s3. The s3 does not have near the signal strength of the ip4 there are rooms in my house that have no service now with the s3 and never had any issues in the last 2 years since I have lived there with the ip4. I have flashed all 3 modems for the s3 all of them shows no service and I can take the ip4 and make a call right beside of it. The 2nd problem is whoever designed the screen colors must live in a cave. The black background and white text I might as well turn off the phone in the sunlight there are no simple way to switch the colors you have to go into each app to change them if they let you. I have had to replace the dialer, contacts, messaging, and email apps just to see them in the daylight. After all I can live with my s3 now but I still will have to buy a ip5 because of the service in my house.
