I'm thinking about picking up an EVO later today. One thing I don't like about Sense is the calendar. Is there any way to put the default Android calendar on there?

Thanks!

Do you just turn off Sense to use them? I know on the Hero the default calendar just wasn't on the device so after turning off Sense you still had the HTC Calendar.

Ok I now have my EVO. I tried turning off Sense but it still just uses the HTC Calendar. Anyone know how to get the default Android calendar?

Same question.... can't seem to find the default Google Calendar. Is it available without rooting and changing ROM's???

I just read an article that mentioned the android calendar. I had no idea it exists! I searched here in hopes of finding it on my EVO. Looks like I'm not alone in this search. I sure hope someone can help.

I really just want the default android calendar but can't seem to get any help on how to add it. I've managed to get some apk files....Calendar.apk and CalendarProvider.apk. Not sure where to go from here though.

How long till Jorte gets alarms? Dang!

Jorte has alarms. They're called "Reminders." When you create, or edit, an event, tap on "Show Details" then scroll down and tap "Add Reminder."

The best part is that you can have multiple reminders for each event. Say, one 10 minutes before, one an hour before, and one a day before.

So I am guessing that is it not possible to get the default Android calendar on the EVO without changing ROM's?

You will find the Android Calender in Widgets. Go to the page you want to add the widget, press the + sign on the lower right corner, select Widgets, then select the Android Calender.

That's just the widget (showing the current day). When you click the Widget it opens the HTC calendar.

Yeah, there does not seem to be an easy solution. You have to root and then install the files. The one thing I miss about the Pre is that homebrew Devs made it stupid easy to install home brew apps. It would be awesome if someone could put out an installer for windows. Something that would auto root and then install stuff you want, all from a nice GUI.

I don't mind doing a little work. I can get through the rooting and such. Do you know exactly what needs to be done? I tried using them with the Android emulator, but I ended up with a calendar app that just closed as soon as it launched. :)

I guess this finally explains why when I set the default opening view, it never opens to what I set it to unless I was already on that view when I last exited. It must be a setting for the Android calendar, but I am only using the HTC calendar.

Yeah . . . I want that stock cal as well!
