Three hours on phone calls all over the world and transferred from department to department then back to the main 800 number to start all over again. Was this how Samsung conducted themselves during the Note 7 fiasco?

Anyway, the AKG Y50bt headset received in the Immersive bundle will not charge. I've used different cables, chargers and left it plugged in overnight. The red light comes on for five seconds after plugging in and then blinks off. Off course there's no blue light to identify a signal because there's no power.

Now to get someone in Samsung to give a crap and offer a solution. I can't even request a return because Samsung is being SamStupid. Of course, there's no record of prior conversations.

Nothing unusual for Samsung. :-\
I believe the Y50BT headphones came out on 2015 and could have old dead batteries in them from laying around uncharged for 2 years.
I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem.

A simple return could work, but I'm thinking you could also go through AKG website and request warranty support. We got them as part of promo deal, but we did still BUY them. Therefore, we should get factory warranty. I'm assuming its 1 year. If you can't get through to Samsung, you might get faster response from AKG website. Phone number for warranty support directly from AKG is (888) 452-4254. Proof of purchase would be receipt from promo I suppose. I would keep trying Samsung for a little bit as being you got it from them as promo deal they will know exactly your circumstances.

Mine was the same way, it'll charge just leave it on. For pairing you need to press the pairing button just once instead of the long press. It drove me crazy as well initially.

That's strange. I would think Samsung would choose a set that shows off Bluetooth 5.0?

Nope, went that route first and AKG said to bark up Samsung's tree.

Thanks, I'll leave it plugged in for another night.

In the meantime Samsung sent me a UPS label to ship HEADPHONES to their Texas PHONE repair center. The headphones are less than 24-hours new and they don't want to replace them.

THE WORST THING ABOUT THE S8+ IS EVERYTHING SAMSUNG POST PURCHASE.
THAT SAMSUNG CEO DURING THE RELEASE VIDEO SHOULD HAVE SLIT HIS BELLY ON STAGE.

There isn't much on headphones that could use the 5.0 upgrades. Higher data rates might benefit if the new version of AptX was used. The longer range is low bitrate and only suitable for sensor devices.

edit: it looks like while the S8 supports only the normal AptX, the G6 has AptX HD. So a consolation prize for the G6. Not that you will find any AptX HD devices. Support is still small cause idiots buying beats headphones don't care about their sound quality.

AKG To The Rescue

AKG sent me an email requesting my mailing address for a warranty replacement.
I guess they monitor the chatter on their products on various blogs.

THANK YOU AKG.

SAMSUNG CAN GO TO HELL AND BURN AMONG YOUR BATTERIES.

There are no aptx HD devices right now, but I like to have future proof devices. Pretty sure the hardware in the S8 supports it. I'm thinking it's a licensing thing. Every device with aptx features pays licensing fees. Perhaps Samsung decided to skip HD version of spec to save fees. Since no devices even use the spec currently it's alright. But maybe it'll get enabled with an update later on of spec takes off?

It's hardware supported. Under qualcomes own web site (they own aptx now) they list the g6 as hd and s8 as normal. Aptx cannot be added at a later date.

There is a hack for some older phones that had hardware for aptx, but didn't have support. The issue was the hardware supported it but the manufacturer never licensed the technology so it was never part of the firmware. The hack (which I believe required phone being rooted etc) enabled aptx on a device that "shouldnt" have it. The G6 uses an older SoC and other components. I'm speculating the S8 is technically capable but not enabled in firmware. Could be wrong. I'm hoping that is the case though, because then it being enabled later with update is possible.

Glad you got it sorted. You may be disillusioned to know that Samsung owns AKG.

Re: AKG To The Rescue

I'm having the same issue with the one I just got. Maybe AKG can send me an email too and save me even more time on customer support (over 4 hours with Samsung just to get a working link to buy the immersive bundle!).

Mine have stopped working as well. I probably only used them a half a dozen times since they were new and have left them charging on a spare charger on my desk.
