Developers kick out better ROMS than the manufacturers. There is something wrong with that picture. at any rate there will always be issues with software. In the end though its the manfactueres responsibility to get a stable build out the door. Developers do it all the time.

See this all the time on these forums. I have just a couple of comments:
All the ROM developers you speak of are doing their work on the backs of all the software engineers working for Google and the carriers. It's a little different 'tweaking' someone elses code rather than writing it from scratch.
Go to any support thread for any custom ROM out there and there are plenty of posts about bugs. Just seems people are much more forgiving when it comes to bugs in custom ROMs.
Now before anyone starts flaming on me let me say I think the developer community for Android is filled with really talented guys doing some amazing things, but to talk about how they put the software engineers working for Google and the carriers to shame is, I think, ridiculous. They are dealing with many constraints that the ROM developer never has to consider.
The difference is these devs have full time jobs and get the bugs fixed in a matter of days where as companies who have workers dedicated to just software and bug fixes takes them weeks and most always months. Doesnt make sense to me.
The bug is most likely fixed in days. The weeks and months are the testing and approval process.

Can't wait! I've been chomping at the bit since January.
