I have experienced Delayed Gmail notifications? On my last two Samsung phones including my current note 20 ultras gmail notifications are delayed. Even the pixel seems to do it. Been researching for years with no real work to get that fixed. It has something to do with its Doze feature. Adjusting it in the battery settings does nothing for it.

Has anyone seen delayed Gmail notifications on the S22 ultra?

I'm sure it'll do the same thing. This issue seems to be an Android operating system issue.

Yep, been dealing with this nightmare for the past few years. iPhone notifications come in instantly while the Android phone is dead to the world until you actually turn on the screen. Maybe we will get lucky with the S22 Ultra but I doubt it.

Ahh yes, delayed notifications - Still!
Here is a link to an XDA thread on how to fix this:

The posts are not Samsung specific, however, it woks perfectly on the Samsungs...
I started doing this on my S20 U, and I tested my new S22 U to see if the delays were gone, and o there are not. I am now doing it on my S22 U after each boot, and the notification come through immediately.
I just set up a little batch file to run after each boot:
cd\
cd\ADB Tools
cd\ADB Tools\platform-tools
adb devices
adb shell dumpsys deviceidle disable
pause

I have not found any other way that works consistently

NO problem with GMAIL on my 4XL. Hits the phone first then a about 10 seconds later, if I'm on my computer, I get the flash on the bottom right corner stating mail received. But definitely lands on the phone first.

Thanks for the info! It should not be that hard to make notifications work as they should.

Never had any problems with Gmail delayed notifications. My phone goes off instantly, even before chrome tab updates with new mail.

What phone are you using the new Samsung galaxy 22? Have you had those issues on other android phones? All mine sure do.

using the s22ultra. Prior to this phone, I was using Note9. Multiple notes, and galaxy phones before that. Never any issues. Same goes for my wife's phone.. I even use gmail app to pull from multiple external non-gmail accounts. Notifications seem pretty much instant.

Very strange. If you look around a little bit it is pretty much a widespread problem. Glad you dont have it. I can't tell you how many times my note 20 has been sitting still for 20 minutes and I pick it up and I have 14 emails all of a sudden. Time stamped all different.

Is it that strange? Only four have said yes, two have said no, and no other statements from other people?

I cannot speak for a samsung phone (yet) but have to say this is the first I have ever heard of this problem and I'm on a few android phone sites and read some of the android sites like Android Authority and Android News.

I cannot say that my emails are late when not on the computer since I rarely read the times stamps. But I do not remember opening the gmail app on my phone unless the phone has the email icon at the top, and like I state earlier, with my phone next to me if it chirps the email sound, about fifteen seconds later; thunderbird displays the new email notification in the bottom right of the PC screen.

And while on this site site today; I have received three emails, all on my phone before on my computer. I will say there is a noticeable delay from GMAIL account to Thunderbird and that is due to Thunderbird doing a run on emails every x-number of minutes.

I get every Pixel and Samsung phone every year and on every phone I have experienced delayed notifications for few years now. How do I know? Because I also get new iPhone every year and the Gmail notifications always come instantly on my iPhone but on my Samsung and Pixel that's not the case. I have had few other manufacturer phones and similar experience with them. If I recall this started happening after they introduced that doze feature or something like that in one of the Android versions. I'm using official Gmail app to compare on iPhone and Android phones.

I just got the S22 Ultra yesterday evening and notifications are coming immediately till now. I'll have to wait few days to see if this happens on S22 Ultra as well.

That is great news! Please keep us updated.

I absolutely have to have my emails ASAP so I have to use an iPhone as well. I really wish I could go back to android.

Mine are coming in normally on my S22Ultra. Have you tried restarting the phone?

This is the main reason why I don't use GMail as my main email app. I've had the notification issues going back to my previous HTC phones as well as my current Pixel 4 XL. A previous company I worked for had their email system set up through Google/GMail, and I would route my email through the Outlook app because it would always come through! I've always found the GMail app unreliable.

Didn’t take long, got an email at 10:02 and notification immediately popped from gmail app on my iPhone. On the S22 Ultra the gmail notification only came through at 10:08. 6 minutes after the email.

That BLOWS!... Gmail is still a delay issue on android.

For those who don't already know....Keep in mind it's only happening when the phone is been set down for a bit. If you're actively using it or connected to power Gmail notifications come through instantly. Phone has to be selling for five minutes or so still with no interaction and then it goes into a sleep mode. When you get a pick it up all your notifications come through. Especially Gmail

What blows is that I was actually using both the iPhone 13 Pro and S22 Ultra simultaneously. Was listening to some YouTube video on my iPhone and was browsing on the S22 Ultra. When the Gmail notifications popped up on the iPhone, I thought alright this is a good test and let me note down how long it takes to get on the S22 Ultra. And even during the wait time I was constantly using the S22 Ultra. Even then it came 6 minutes late, not sure if it was in sleep or doze mode how long it would have taken.

For me it's not an issue before someone pokes at me, big deal you got notification some time later. Not a big deal for me but understand everyone's use case is different and some do rely on immediate notifications.
