Delays placing calls?

I upgraded to the Photon a couple of weeks ago from an Evo 4G. So far it's a good upgrade, with 1 glaring exception. Maybe 15-20% of the time when I place a call, the phone will lag and not place the call for anywhere from 2 to 20 minutes. Literally, I'll hit a shortcut, type in a number to call, select from a contact list - all methods have the same behavior. For example, if I tap on a shortcut to call someone, the shortcut registers that it's been tapped but the phone won't start dialing. Further attempts are the same. If I leave the phone sit, anywhere from 2 to 20 minutes later it will suddenly dial the first number I tried to call. Any additional numbers I had tried will then dial immediately upon the end of the call to the previous number.

During this time some apps will open immediately, and others will have the same behavior as trying to place calls - they won't open until some time later.

Mostly this happens after I turn on bluetooth and connect my headset, but it has happened a few other times as well. And it originally worked fine, but this behavior started a couple of days after setting up my headset. I tried a resetting the phone to factory, and it followed the same pattern - fine for a few days, and then the problem started. It might be an app I have installed, but I have not been able to figure out which one it might be. Has anyone seen anything like this?

The stock firmware (unless you are on soak test) does have an issue to display higher signal than it really has...

I am dealing with this very annoying issue too! Any solution out there?

The frequency of this issue has picked up over the last few weeks.

Which ROM are you using?

I'm just using stock at the moment. I don't want to root or load other ROMs while I try out the phone, as I'm still eligible to swap it out for something else. I can work around many things, but placing calls when I need it to is the foundation for everything else with my phone. If I'm in an emergency situation (house on fire? medical emergency?) and I can't place a call, what good is my phone?

I really want to like this phone, but it's not making it easy...

Try updating profile and prl. If that doesn't help, take battery out abd hold power button ~10 seconds. If no help, you may want to clear the cache (i can give you step by step).

If all fails, might want to trade it.

I agree with the OP's concern and I've been having this issue since around Dec 2011. I think there's an app or process running on the phone that causes the delay. I've tried resetting to factory and installing apps one by one, but it's never a consistent problem...just happens.

The idea that it is BT related may have some merit as I recall it happening mostly when I'm in the car connected to BT. My work-around is to use SystemPanel to end all active, background an inactive apps. This usually fixes the problem immediately with no ill effects and my call dials via BT without issue or delay.

Despite this hiccup, my MoPho is probably the best phone I've ever owned.

I've never had the issue myself, and honestly, never owned a bt headset, so...

Might be an app. Best thing to do might honestly be ask motorola, but they'll probably tell you what I have or to check the apps...
