Hi there,

Well, this just sucks. I wanted to delete *one* photo from a text message I'd started but not sent. I hard pressed on the photo and hit the delete key which is how I always did it before to delete *one* item and the ENTIRE text thread disappeared for this person. It deleted it from my third party text program TEXTRA and the default MESSAGING app.

The same thing happened on my husband's phone and he's using the default MESSAGING app.

I have the Note 10+ and he's got the LG G8.

What in the heck? We just switched to newer phones so my teeth about dropped to the floor when I saw everything zapped instead of just one photo. Does anyone know anything about this and what's the best way to get the deleted texts/images back?

Thanks,
Deb

SMS messages are stored in a protected SQL database. There is no undelete unless your SMS app is doing something nonstandard like implementing its own "trash" folder.

That sounds frustrating. When you long-pressed the photo, are you sure you were within that messaging thread, or were you actually in the main Messages screen with an overview of all of your message threads? If the latter, then long-pressing the photo from there would've made the the app think you wanted to delete that whole thread, not just the photo.
