Delete TRASH permanently

I have a GMAIL ACCOUNT (myMail} that I've been using for years and it has served me well.
Now I'm using email much more than I used to. Most of the time, after dealing with the subject, they end up in the TRASH. I know I can delete all in one fell swoop, but I'd like to hold on to them for about 45 days in case I need them.
MyMail support claims that the Server of my account controls that.
I always thought that TRASH was removed after 45 data automatically. I've been using a workaround that is very convoluted.
How do I control the length of time TRASH is retained. Thanks.

On Gmail's own web interface, it says that Trash emails will be deleted after 30 days. I don't believe you can change that.

This may not apply to the OP, unless they want to make the switch. I use Protonmail, my emails sent to trash stay there until I empty the trash.

I've Disabled Gmail in SETTINGS, because I've been using MyMail. When I reenabled it, I don't see the 30 delete limit. I'd be happy with 30 days, but how can I enable that and still keep myMail? Since both are Gmail.com,it would seem, in my simple mind, the same server. Anyway, where do I find the 30 day limit in Gmail, in case I decide to switch. I know that I can be a PIA, but please humor me with this. Thanks

Open the trash folder. It should be 30 days by default, with the notice pictured.

Thanks for the help. I found what I was looking for, so I'm going to run with Gmail for a while. I can't remember why I quit using it, but I'm keeping myMail installed just in case. Thanks again
