i'm wanting to delete the swype keyboard from gROM.

can someone tell me how, or point me in the direction of a forum that will?

You can use Titanium Backup to delete it. It'll delete the .apk and all associated files. That is also the way to delete any app you want to, though do be careful about what your removing because you could cause some instability within the system. Happy removing. :D

ok, cool. what about installing a .apk that will be there if i do a factory reset? say i do a factory reset and i want my friendcaster app to automatically be there, instead of having to re dl it from the maket.

You can use Titanium Backup to backup your app (friendcaster) and the data associated with it, do a factory reset, re-install Titanium Backup and use it to restore the app and data.

Well, you can't per say have it automatically be there but Titanium can make it quite easy to bring it back. Make a backup of Friendcaster with TB before you do your reset. After you've booted back into the system reinstall TB and restore your backup of Friendcaster. It'll ask you if you want to restore just the app or the app+data, select app+data and that's it. The app should be sitting ready to go in the exact state you left it in. You can do that with your games and any other app you want really, just don't make backups of system apps and you should be fine. :)

DO NOT DO A FACTORY RESET WITH A CUSTOM RECOVERY OR ROM!!!

::deep breath::
Using Titanium Backup is probably the easiest way, but you don't need it for this.

You can delete any keyboards you want. What you need to be sure of is:
1. You have a properly working and configured replacement to use as you keyboard input method. In other words, install your keyboard of choice and be sure it works before deleting anything.

2. When removing system apps, you back them up properly, just in case.

If you have your preferred keyboard installed and selected, you should be able to uninstall others using Menu >> Applications >> Manage Applications >> All tab, selecting it and clicking uninstall. If it is subdued then you will have to do the following:

1. Use your favorite root explorer enabled file manager and mount /system/app as read-writeable.

2. Find the keyboard apk(s) that you wish to remove. Copy it/them to your SD card; a separate folder is helpful.

3. Delete the Swype (or other) apk from your system/app directory.

4. Reboot.
