Deleting emails from Gmail is not deleting the emails

When I delete an email from my Gmail app, then logon to my PC a few minutes later, the email is still there. Seems like it's not synchornizing properly

i'm on Android 7.0 on my Galaxy S7 (official update OTA)

shall I delete that app and rely on the built in mail app or what to do?

Check your sync settings in your Google Account settings page.

Then check that the default action in GMail is set to 'Delete' and not 'Archive'.
