deleting multiple planner entries

How do I delete all entries in the planner in one go?

I'm assuming you are referring to the Calendar app? If so, did you try clearing the app data? I don't know if it will do the trick but it shouldn't hurt to try. Settings > Application Manager > Calendar > Storage (if you're on Marshmallow) > Clear Data & just for good measure, I'd Clear Cache as well.
