deleting photos from google photos also deletes them from the device

Used to I could delete photos from Google Photos but could keep them in my Gallery. Now deleting them from Photos deletes them from my device gallery. Anyway to stop this from happening?

I doubt it. It's working as designed. It is kind of annoying sometimes though.

You'd probably have to turn off Back Up & Sync in Google Photos.
