Android Central Question

When I use the stylus with handwriting recognition, the inserted word is underlined but no longer deleted in its entirety when I press on the backspace button. Considering how often I have to erase and rewrite words, that's really annoying. Also I'm pretty sure this used to work fine a while ago. It's there a setting I've overlooked which enables this?

It's a Samsung galaxy tab s6. The word disappears from the handwriting field but if I long-press the word in the text area I get the usual cut, copy, paste popup. Incidentally words which I enter by tracing them on the on-screen keyboard *do* get deleted all at once when I press backspace. It's just words which were stylus written have to be erased one char at a time.

Oh I'm sorry, I misunderstood -- I thought you were trying to have your personal dictionary forget a remembered word.:-\

Yeah I found plenty of online resources for dealing with dictionaries, but my problem yields zilch. Although I'll happily concede that I don't know what keywords to search for.

What happens if you press and hold backspace for about a half-second? Does it just repeat the backspace multiple times, or does it delete the previous word? (On Gboard, it just backspaces multiple times, but maybe it's different on other keyboard apps.)

Yeah, it starts repeating the backspace, and a little while later it speeds up so much that it'll delete half my text before I can get my finger off the screen, so I never do that anymore.

At this point, I can only suggest long-pressing the word, then hitting Backspace or Cut.
