Dell opens online store. Droid 119.99

Christopher : I don't think so. Once bought you can't really do much. You can return it if withing 30 days.

Hmmm, I see on Wirefly that they are offering it for $149 with 2 Yr Upgrade. I think I'll at least take it in and see what I can get them to do. Can't hurt. Best Buy website says they will not match online retailers, but it sounds like some people are getting it done. :)

I called 3 times, and everytime they said they wont match online retailers. call and ask to be connected to the Mobile Department, they are the ones that price matched it for me!

Good Luck:D

Is there any price discounting for people who upgraded an existing Verizon account? I paid the $199 for the 2 Yr Upgrade pricing. Thanks.

According to the website you can get the $119.99 price for existing Verizon customers however if you have the new ever two upgrade you will not get the extra $50 or $100 off the phone.

Here's what I can say on the subject...

You should be able to get this price for BOTH being a new customer OR being a current customer and doing the 2yr contract. There's a link above the Dell deal that allows you to switch "what the deal says" (it's just below where you can edit the zip code)... here's the Dell link again...

As for me, I am/was a current Verizon customer (got moved over from Alltel) and was told I was doing the "new every two" from the Best Buy reps I delt with. I'm not sure how true this was since I had completed my last 24 month contract by 2 months ago.

When I first bought the 2 (two) Droids at Best Buy they price matched both phones with the $149.99 Verizon deal for exsisting customers here:
Verizon Wireless

After that I found this thread and printed off the ad at Dell (I changed my zip to show it was for the city my Best Buy was in and I also made sure to pick the correct "exsisting customer" vs the "new customer" deal to again help my odds of getting them to price match.

When I went to Best Buy, I skipped the whole "customer service desk" thing and went directly to the wireless counter (where they sell the phones) and spoke with the supervisor there. Both times I had a different supervisor and both times they price matched without any hassle (first the Verizon $149.99 price and then again for the Dell $119.99 price). I understand why they don't normally price match online prices, but here you're still signing a two year contract and that's what they're really after. If Best Buy wants your money and the bonus for signing up a customer (I assume they get something) then they'll do the price match.

I guess I fail to see why a "new every two" person can't get this price unless you're trying to do an early upgrade, but if you're "eligible" for an early upgrade then I fail to why they wouldn't allow it.

I think the key here might be to avoid using Dell or Verizoin directly and play the Best Buy price match game to get the phones and have them activated to your account.

Hope this info helps in some way. :)

To the best of my knowledge, you can't get an upgrade from Best Buy unless you are NE2 eligible. If this is the case, then trying to do the price match game with them won't help those just doing annual/early upgrades.

Has anyone attempted to print off the invoice from Dell and take that to the store for a new activation?? I'm going to get the droid and I wanted to get it from Best Buy, just wondering if they will honor the pirce match for a new purchase??

The seem to depend on your local Best Buy, they say they will not match online prices. However when I went to the mobile phone department at Best Buy the manager of the department said he would match it no problem, then again a few other people have not been able to get their online prices matched. So I guess good luck.

Just my 2 cents. Got the Eris on Saturday an played around with it all weekend. Enjoyed it, but not when I took it work today and it was dead by three. So I was reading this post and thought, what the hell. Printed it off and went to BB after work. Told them my issue and that I would like to exchangif they price match. Showed them he ad, the mobile Guy called the manager and I walked out with my new Droid for 119.99. It works guys. I used it in Charlottesville, Virginia. Figure if they said no I would just return it, but everything worked out great. Give it a shot.

Hi all....
l recently moved from storm1 to the Droid last week and I'm loving this one. I got the early upgrade offer and jumped on it. I paid 199 and also added another line and changed to family plan for 69.99, and my wife just wanted a simple mobile, so she was happy with one of the free phones. My question is will best buy match the dell price, and if they do, how can I get that because I already have the Droid. And can I still stick to the same calling plan, because I notice ed a few places only offering higher calling plans.

Thanks

If you're the primary account holder and are up for the NE2 you can get the Droid for $100 depending on your level of plan.

If you enrolled in the program prior to February 15, 2009 and continued to meet the requirements of the program, you will qualify for a free phone up to a $50 or $100 value, depending on the monthly access of your plan.

Thanks zookeeper, I am the primary holder but I changed to the family plan just last week and my actual eligibility fr upgrade is in Jul next year.

Wish I had the same experience. At Best Buy in Madison, WI I spoke with the Mobile Depts. manager and was told they wouldn't match anything from the Internet. I tried negotiating with him, and even told him I was going to return my Droid and buy it online. He was very nice about it, but stuck to his guns that they would not price match it. He said to keep my eye on the Best Buy flyer for possible price reductions for the holiday--which they would gladly match. I may try another location.
