Depreciation

This is what happens when you pump out so much product.

Also, this is what happens when you support a product for so long.

One could probably get an iPhone 7 and use it for two or three more years with Apple still updating that device. Most two-year old Android devices aren't seeing updates anymore.

Lucky you. I couldn't even get anyone interested when I put up my unlocked TMobile s10+ 128gb for $500.
It's also sites like swappa that help the buyer spend less with the ability to haggle price with seller and then people spamming your sale page with insulting offers.

I thought it was a good deal , especially that it was hardly used and came with 2 new OtterBox cases and Samsung USA warranty. I never had issues selling my previous Note 8 or note 9.

Im sorry. 8/128...for USD$500.In Indonesia, its gonna be sold fast. Hahaha. As for cases, id sell them separately... More money in the end xD.

There are a number of factors that have already been mentioned. I think the big two are demand and then the difference in actual price paid originally.

I don't resell as much as I used to, but I typically don't lose any more on a Samsung device than I do an iPhone. Buy an iPhone for $1000 and sell for $800. Buy a Galaxy for $700 and sell for $500. I lose $200 either way even though the retail price of the Galaxy was $1000. I have never paid full price for a Galaxy S or Note. Now, more than ever, Samsung offers deal after deal. No reason to ever pay full price. If you do, you either didn't do your homework, weren't patient enough or both.

It might be because the iPhone is the leader and all follows its trends, And the leader always has its unique worth and Iphone acts as a Benchmark for the others, and leaders never depreciates.

Apple is a luxury brand. Samsung is joe blow brand. Simple.

I did not buy my Note8 / Note9 / Note10+ / tab s4 for their luxury, but I paid the same price as luxury. :(

Lol that's a subjective opinion. I consider the S series just as "luxurious" and the Note series is not even a question. Luckily for everyone there are a plethora of choices avaiable.

I don't see Apple as luxury or prestige products, never did, but you can't deny the brand value even if the phones aren't the best value for money.
I don't buy my device with resale value in mind anyway, it is about what I want and like right now, nothing else really, unfortunately that means taking a hit once a year but that's my choice

True. Might as well just hold $2000 cash and dont use a phone. Hahahaha.

There is just so much choice with android. Android users often have a strong need to try out a lot of different devices. The average consumer truly believes that apple makes the best devices. It's only the true tech enthusiast that knows different. So the average person will pay a higher price to get an iPhone.
