Developer Edition - Available April 19th

Same thing happened to me, only getting EDGE speeds. Going to bring it to ATT at lunch time.

Just an update, soon as I got about a mile from my home, I got 4G (indicated by an "H" icon), so it does work in 1900 Mhz areas.

I'll be in Baltimore tonight, that's allegedly a T-Mobile LTE area so I'll see what happens there.

I believe the way to get the updates directly from HTC is to flash the stock developr ROM. Once that is done then your phone is like the developer phone. Everything the OEM releases an update it will be posted for users to flash and it also is used for other custom ROMs. So if you don't flash the developer ROM now, as soon as they get an update, it will be posted. In either event, you'll have to flash now, or flash later LOL. But get the developer version if you don't want to do this. But the majority of people that want the developer version are those that do this. To each it's own though.

If one had the DE out of the box with no changes, wouldn't they be able to simply download the OTA updates directly on the phone from HTC no matter what carrier they were using the phone with?
For example, one buys the DE and inserts an AT&T or TMobile SIM and uses it on the appropriate network. They check and see that an "update is available" on the phone. Would that update in fact be from HTC or would updates have to be downloaded and installed from the HTC site? Also if you don't plan to do additional mods, can custom ROMs be flashed WITHOUT rooting since the bootloader is unlocked? I'm new at this too.

Yes any HTC OTA updates would be able to be installed without additional work. Custom ROMs can be flashed without root with an unlocked bootloader but make sure you read all the details of what a ROM contains. Most custom ROMs are pre-rooted so if you don't want to be rooted, keep an eye out for that.

You may need to contact AT&T to ask them to switch your data plan from 4g/LTE for iPhone5 to 4G/LTE for Smartphones. That's what I had to do.

AT&T offered me their insurance, so I'm using that (for now, at least).

I wonder if best buy will let me insure the developers edition if I bought it from HTC . Att insurance = asurion. No thank you. Best buy insurance has no deductibls and no limits on how many claims you can make. I buy all my phone's from them.

They won't, I tried.
