Well not impossible, but not likely. They did not think root would happen or that we would get past write protection and both happened. No telling what will happen. Right now, root is as good as we get.

Okay, thanks for the reply! I just ask because I'm not content with just root, I like to mess around with everything in my phones:p

You pretty much laid out my concerns. I want a new phone as I'm just tired of the GN's battery life, but the Maxx may be super slow with updates because of Verizon and I want to be able to at least get Kit Kat. I did root and flashed ROMs on my GNex, but I'm hoping that since the developer edition of the Maxx is out, it can convince more devs to support it.

Anybody know how exactly Motorola's (30 Days?) return policy is? I could just order the Maxx Dev Edition now, and if at the very remote chance Google announces a Verizon Nexus next month, I could just return it, reactivate my GNex, then wait for the new VZWNexus.

The return period seems to depend on your contact. I have heard both 14 and 30 days.

Based on the recent history with the Nexus, I'd have to believe the Maxx will get KK, but it may take a couple months.

The real question: How long it will take for Moto to optimize KK for the X8 system?

I would bet my first born that Verizon will not get another nexus device. I hope I'm wrong but I just don't see it happening.

OMG I just ordered the Droid Maxx Dev Edition.

Thanks for the feedback guys, and yeah I'm convinced Verizon isn't getting a new Nexus this year as well. Don't make me feel regret Google Verizon!

Nexus 7 LTE works on Verizon.

For anyone interested in Nexus 5 on Verizon, the rumors are nothing more than rumors - wait until they actually announce something. Rumors are going both ways, and don't seem to be based in much more than guesses, fears, and hopes.

Anyone know if there are official Motorola recovery images for the Dev Edition MAXX though? I'd love to start mucking around with things once I get this, but without the safety blanket of a total reburn/revert (why I love the Samsung leaks + ODIN) I'm not brave enough to start really customizing this. I bought it because its actually cheaper than getting the regular version from Verizon off contract. No tax so saved over $40 in taxes. :)
