what is the default setting for the dev option to keep screen on while charging? I had this box checked before and did a factory reset and my screen never shut off when charging after the reset. I had to unlock the dev options because it was factory reset, but this box was checked when I opened the developer settings.

shouldnt dev settings get reset to defaults?

I would have guessed that it would return to default, but perhaps that's one of the settings that gets saved to your Google account. So when you did a factory reset, it might have reloaded that setting information from your account. You could do an experiment, if you're willing to do another factory reset--go to Settings>Backup & Restore​, uncheck Automatically Restore, then do the factory reset.

Lol I don't care enough to do another factory reset. But you're probably right with the restore option.
