Device/boot password without screenlock password?

Hi there, I'm totally new here. I searched, but couldn't find anything so I hope to get an answer here.

I recently bought a GT2 (P5110 Wifi only) here in Holland. It's not rooted.
I don't like and use the screenlock swipe, pattern or password, because I don't like to first having to push the button and then swipe, use pattern or password. Too many steps to unlock. (Screen is set to lock in 2 min. to save power.) Plus it doesn't need a screenlock when I'm around.
However, I kill the power when I don't use it for hours or leave it at home or at work, so I want to secure it for when I'm not around. So then I have to set the device/boot password.

The problem is that my unrooted GT2 only allows to set a boot password if you set a screenlock password first!
Furthermore, the info says that the boot password can NOT be removed once it's set.
No problem if I can remove the screenlock password afterwards, but the question is, will I be able to remove the screenlock password after the boot password is set? Or are these two linked and will I be stuck with an eternal screenlock as well?

All help appreciated!
Cheers, tjpadm
