Device Memory

I have attached a screen shot of my S5 device memory. It shows that I have 16 GB of device memory and have used over 14 GB in applications memory and used almost 7 GB of Miscellaneous memory but still have almost 5 GB memory still available.

The numbers obviously do not make any sense. Does anyone have an explanation and also how do I get the numbers to be accurate?

If I open up the application manager it shows at the bottom 5.7 GB used 4.9 GB free

I don't know for sure but would guess it is putting the same files in a few different categories.
