Device Not Compatible?

?!?Device Not Compatible!?!?!?

Nexus 7 (2013), Stock Factory Image 6.0.1, Google Play, Angry Birds Pop.

Any insight as to why Play would tell me my device is "Not Compatible?"

I have, of course, sent an inquiry with full details on this to support@rovio.com

I anticipate a long delay to get back a canned reply of "We are sorry that your device is incompatible" with no real explanation or solution.

Yes, I am able to download/install other things from Play. During the same session I successfully installed DomiNations.

Anyone have a good suggestion?

That makes sense somewhat. Shortsighted sense from a dev standpoint...

Yeah - it's compatible with my phone on 6.0.1 but not on any of my WiFi-only devices.

I can see that it would need certain permissions if on a phone regarding SMS and Phone status... OK.

But if a device is WiFi only, I'm not sure how that makes the game non-functional? I can't send/receive an SMS so I can't play? What integral part of the gameplay requires I receive a text message?





I'm not sure that was well thought out to segregate it as "Phone Only" for install.

Either Rovio is counting on using SMS to boost their revenue somehow, or it was poor coding on their part.

Unfortunately, a lot of devices became incompatible by mistake when we first released the latest update. We have released a new update to fix this issue on Friday, so if you haven't done so yet, please update your game again and you can then get to play the latest version.

I thought it made little to no sense. I mean, I wasn't just kvetching. (Right, I was kvetching. Only not just.) I was groping around in the dark trying to feel the shape of the thing and decide what it was.

Turns out my first impression was correct and it was some comic error.

Installed, plays just fine.
