Device not Found!?!

I'm trying to root my Evo and when I do the first command,

adb push root/unrevoked-forever.zip /sdcard/

It goes all the way to explain how Daemon was successful and then it says device not found. I cannot get it to go for anything. I have Debugging and unknown sources both going and I have HTC sync on my computer. Also, the USB port is not bad, neither is the cord. Please help me.

Quick question... What version are you trying to root?

Android 2.2. I know you cant root 2.3

Just wanted to make sure before we troubleshoot.

Have you done a simple adb devices to see if it shows your device from there, for starters?

You are in the folder with adb?

You do have the .zip in the folder with adb?

Have you also tried

adb push unrevoked-forever.zip /sdcard/unrevoked-forever.zip

to see if it works that way?

Sorry for the questions but not sure how much of an understanding you have. Just getting base understanding.

I tried the adb devices, and nothing is listed, all of the files are in the correct spaces, and no worries man I appreciate the help! I still cannot get it. Its so frustrating.
