I only just signed up and installed the Android O beta, so apologies if this is a dumb observation.
In Settings -> Display -> Advanced -> Device theme, the two choices listed are "android.auto_generated_rro__" and "Pixel". The first one is selected by default, if I try to change it to Pixel, it doesn't stick (go pack to Settings -> Display... and it is set to android.auto_generated_rro__ again.
My device is a Pixel XL, by the way.
