Dial Pad not working during calls

I have a Verizon Note 4, using on ATT.

I have 2 issues one minor, one major

Major issue.....My dial pad will not work during calls. Making automated systems useless.

Minor Issue......I have to call from my contact list or the call try's to go thru as an international call
