Did 2.2 kill my phone?

Is there any advantage doing this other than just educating myself since I will be getting a new phone tomorrow? Looks like I will loose everthing on the phone other than the SD card stuff.

My original plans were to wait for 2.2, learn how to root, then debloat. Maybe I should give this a try on a phone that is going back since I have nothing to loose?

Yeah you have nothing to lose and it will be interesting to see if it fixes the problem

LOL nope....Battery out. phone plugged IN, Hold down just the volume DOWN button. than u should see it. If not plugged in nodda will happen:p

LOL, nope. I always hold volume down button, THEN insert usb cable and have never had an issue. It actually works both ways, I have tested. You can even plug phone in to usb, and open ODIN while holding volume down and com port will show up right away as ODIN opens. Having phone already plugged in and then holding volume down button is a "jumpstart" trick of sorts for when ODIN is not recognizing phone.

this is good to know I have always fired it up plugged in than pressed down....

Ok, so I went through the process, Odin loaded 2.1, the phone started back up just like first out of the box and went through setup ... I was getting my hopes up.

I powered the phone off, unplugged the USB, but the battery in, and hit the power button to start it back up. No dice, I get the dead battery icon again.

I think this phone is screwed.

Sounds like a bad battery. Maybe even a bad battery wipe. Just for giggles, flash a CWM Via odin (it will give you some more experience), then see if you can boot into recovery and wipe the battery stats.

But it sounds like a bad battery.

I swapped batteries with another phone at Big V today. My phone still didn't work and the phone with my battery in it worked. The phone thinks the battery is dead, but it isn't.
