Did anyone switch from the Note 7?

I returned my Note 7 last night after my wife told me about a little boy getting burnt while watching videos on his grandmother's Note 7. I was trying to wait for a replacement Note but after hearing that I decided not to wait. I have two little ones and I should not have to worry about where I sit my phone down while I wait for a replacement.

Anyways, I looked all night and and day for a new phone and decided on the Honor 8. Are there any tips or tricks to help me settle into the UI. Everything thing I have read said it is very different from other Android UI's.

Just a clarification... It wasn't the note 7 in this case.

Turns out a Galaxy Note 7 did not explode in a child's hands http://www.androidcentral.com/no-galaxy-note-7-did-not-explode-hands-child

I came from a Note 7 and had the same fear as you. I have 2 kids and the last thing I want to worry about is having a battery blow up if they use my phone. I really did like the Note 7's design but it had it's issues too. The performance wasn't great, there was some tweaking that Samsung did not do and I'm assuming it's due to the way they manage memory on the phone.

I can tell you that performance wise, the Honor 8 does hold up, I don't see any lag, I haven't run into any issues with application compatibility, so overall it's a strong performer. You may run into issues finding a case or other accessories for it, but they are out there.

The UI to me is not that hard to get use to, it has a lot of iOS flair to it. From what I've heard the EMUI 5/Android Nougat update is going to fix a lot of the "quirks". I use the Nova launcher on mine and it works really well.

If you haven't purchased it yet, there is a pretty sweet deal here

Thanks, I just ordered. I splurged on the one day shipping. I am looking forward to getting this phone. I may try the Note again next year.
