so ill try to keep this short and succint

purchased phone 3 yrs ago, i usually dont change phones until i need to...

I had a bad on/off switch issue, had that fixed but while i wasopening the back i messed up the touchpad buttons and microphone

downloaded button savior and everything was fine, and then I decided to root it so access all of button saviors features, followed steps and rooted it fine

recently, phone started downloading gobs of data, gigabytes a day....ATT and samsung had no answer. I explored all options...no answers. Put the chip in old iphone 3gs and the gobs of data normalized....Att guys said it was because i had an old phone?? seems odd as the iphone is older......

was it sucking up data because it was rooted? i dunno

so in my journey to try to fix it, i went into the download mode thru the recovery system (not cwm, but the other one)
and i pressed the delete cacche button and from what i understand i deleted my entire operating system......

now the phone does not go past the samsung logo on start up

is there any way to recover from what has happened.

thanks for your help

If you can get into download mode, which is powering on the device by pressing power and volume down, you should be able to flash a stock ROM to the phone. If you can't get into download mode, there is probably not much hope.

thank you

I can get to DL mode, but honestly, i am android illiterate...i dont know what kernels and roms and rams etc are....

if someone can gimme basic steps to do a reboot, id be thrilled and appreciative....

when i had done my root a fewmonths ago, i had downloaded odin or something but deleted it since

i am worried tho that this data issue may arise again....i really have no idea why a gig a day was being used when at most i use a gig a month

Here's some instructions that should help if you still need to unbrick your Skyrocket.

Requirements:

Odin
Samsung USB drivers
Stock TAR for SGH-I727

Instructions:

*To begin, download the tar file onto your PC.
*Run ODIN on the PC.
*In ODIN, hit the PDA button and browse to the .tar file already downloaded. Select that file.
*Check the Auto-Reboot option only. Make sure Re-Partition is unchecked. (Important!)
*Turn off the device and enter download mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down + Power + Home Key for a good 3 seconds.
*Once you’ve entered download mode, connect the device to the PC.
*Lastly, hit Start and wait for the process to complete. Once the process completes, the phone will reboot.
