Did I just brick my phone?

Ok, so I went to UOT Kitchen and created a new theme for my Incredible running CM7 Nightly 258. I installed the theme and it started to boot but got caught in a boot loop. Now when I try to reboot my phone I am getting nothing but a black screen and 5 quick vibrations and then nothing but a blinking green LED light. If I boot into recovery it loads that far, but if I try to do anything from there I get the same result. I even tried a factory reset and got nothing. Thoughts? Thanks for the help.

well I got into CMR somehow, and am now doing the only thing that I can, a complete factory wipe. I guess it will take some time to restore everything but oh well, I got my phone back. I think. . .

Alright I'm throwing the white flag here. I did a factory reset, I can get to CWM, however, when I tell it to reboot, it still goes black, vibrates 5 times, and flashes the LED. I can't mount the SD card. Thoughts, suggestions? Please any help is better than no help.

So you can't even restore a backup from Clockwork Mod? You did make a nandroid backup before you tried out the theme right?

The site I'm sending you a link to is run by our very own Stig (or Pvillecomp if your formal.) He's extremely knowledgeable with the Inc. If you're still stuck give us a shout.

Thanks Wanda, I'll go check it out and see what I can come up with. I don't use Nandroid, but I do use the app by Titanium, and have copied all of my info from my SD card to a file on my desktop. I am sure that I can get it back, I just need to know how.

Yep, it's fixable for sure.

Now about this no nandroid, is there a reason why? I mean, having an entire backup of you system from top to bottom seems like a very good idea to me. In fact it's a necessity and one of the major reasons I rooted my phone in the first place.

Obviously its your phone and you free to do whatever you want to with it but a nandroid backup has saved my bacon dozens of times and more than likely would have saved you here too. Titanium can only back up apps...a nandroid backs up EVERYTHING. The restore replaces things back to EXACTLY how they were at the time the back up was made regardless of what's been done since. Flashed a kernel or ROM that didn't work or you plain just don't like it, restoring your nandroid will fix that. Delete a bunch of system files by accident, nandroid restore will fix that. Install a theme that totally reeks havoc with your phone, nandroid restore will fix that too.

Yeah, I was under the impression that it was the same thing. Oops. Silly me, I'm still learning and this time learned the REAL hard way. I have been trying all afternoon to work on this issue, and I still can't get anywhere. I guess I am going to have to try and contact Stig tomorrow and see what we can figure out. I have followed all steps to the letter, yet I am not getting the response that they are saying I should. I have reached out to a friend that might have a thunderbolt he isn't using anymore that I might have access to, but I really liked my Incredible, and would love to fix it. I'll see what happens tomorrow. Thanks again for the information, and if I get it back up and running the first thing I will be putting on is Nandroid.

Wanda, thanks for that link. A little perseverance and trying it over and over a few times, and I finally got my phone restored. It turns out I did have a full recent backup of my phone on my SD card, but until I could get the phone to recognize it, I couldn't find it.

PolynesianMedic - Sorry I just saw this thread today. Glad you got it working!

Wanda - Thanks for the Alley Oop!

BTW - for the record, that's actual footage of Wanda making the dunk! It's hard to tell without the makeup and dress. ;)
