For those of you who adopted those Droid's last November you'll probably know of my current rant here.

When the Milestone hit, it had extra features that the D1 did not, yet the same hardware. When it got 2.1, it had even more (BT voice dialing, more than three homescreens, ect), and the Droid was left in the dark until 2.2 when it got those enhancements.

Now moto has done it again!? The Milestone 2 and Droid 2 are identical hardware (minus the radios) yet the M2 has 720p video recording, hmmmm.

I am sure I am not the only one who feel left behind by moto.

No your not just need a system dump to see if we can pull the camera apps

You mentioned something about rooting around for it.

Maybe it'll be in a update? I would like for once to make my phone do everything it can without rooting and flashing.

I thought 720p video was because of the 5mp camera. Am I wrong??

Yes.

I can shoot 1080 with a tiny little sensor. But it'll be just that, tiny. Little itty bitty video with plenty of pixels packed in.

Yes I understand that one I have no problem with root I would rather have Motorola release it. But im not over trying to get it myself, I also doubt its because of the 5mp cam most likely to give the dx some breathing room

Sent from my DROID2 using Tapatalk

So the 2.2.02 update I got last night didn't possibly add in 720p? I haven't looked to see what that minor update was for.

Open your camcorder press menu then look at settings if the highest you have is d1 then no

I think you can't have it all in one phone , something gotta go (your case is no 720p in MileStone 2 , mine is its blue)

If HD videos are important to you , you should've picked the Droid X , that what i was aiming for , but -just my luck- they didn't make GSM version , so i went for MileStone 1 (after i checked with Motorola & they made it clear that both Droid X & 2 will be CDMA only) so i went for MileStone 1
6 weeks later ... MileStone 2 coming soon -as i said just my luck-

I don't have Voice dialing (or any features activated by voice) in my MileStone

Yes , the MileStone have more homescreens (up to 9 to be accurate) than the OG Droid , but what's the point if you gonna use a home launcher (i.e. ADW , Launcher pro , ...) plus the stock app drawer is very very very ugly

Yes , the MileStone got more updates than the OG Droid , but all of them for bug fixes

At least in the U.S. you got Froyo 2.2 for OG Droid , i'm still waiting & i'm almost 85% sure that i won't get Froyo for my MileStone (I brought the phone from UK to Saudi Arabia)

Plus , this sounds silly there is the accessorize & the covers (which is almost not available outside U.S.) -just my luck- 2 days after i got the MileStone , i was talking on the phone when someone pushed me -some how the phone fall of my hands to the street- & now i have punch of scratches all over the metal surrounding the screen (thank god the screen didn't break -i would've killed his a$$-)

You don't really need a 720p recording to have good videos (its more like a feature cool have & show it off) , but the video recording in the MileStone is good (not as the X & the Evo)

I think the whole issue is why remove it from the droid 2 but put it in the milestone 2 when their basically the same phone. Minus the modems

It was Verizon's decision to balance their lineup for marketing purposes. They'll never release a phone that gives you EVERYTHING, there will always be something that is left out. The Milestone XT720 also features 720p, and it doesn't even have a 3600 series OMAP in it. A dump of either the XT or the M2 should be all that is needed to port that feature over to the Deuce.

I hope that's all that's needed just have to search through it. But on some phones post 2.2 the video recording presets are saved in the radio which would rule the m2 out. But I know it was vzw decision but seeing the dinc dx and fascinate all have it why would you leave it out its the only one with a physical keyboard. Unless they wanted to position this at the lower end of the droid lineup

Thinking about it now, the M2 or XT dumps may not even be necessary. The D2 is not a very popular phone, so development isn't as rapid as say...the DX. If it weren't for that, it may have already been accomplished by now.

I've never heard of camera encoding presets saved within the radio. That doesn't even seem to make sense from a technological standpoint. How (and why) would camera software have anything to do with that? All the radio does is govern what frequencies the phone pulls its signal from-or at least that's what I always understood.

and leaving it out of the only phone with a keyboard makes perfect sense if you subscribe to the theory of VZW(any carrier, really) never wanting the customer to be too satisfied. It makes it easier to distinguish the devices in their lineup when they all offer "unique" features.

dont know it will be found and hopefully we can get it working havent looked to hard at the system but ill really start looking

Great answer!
