Did Samsung change the ultra wide camera?

A little more detail please. Has what at .5 vs. 06? But yes, I believe they are different modules.

I believe it changed on the S21U and remained the same for the S22U.

GSMArena usually has detailed camera specs for each handset, don't have enough time to look it up and verify right now.

When I click ultra wide on 20 Ultra it says it's at .5x but on 22 Ultra it says .6x

Yes, camera setup is different. I mean look at the back of your S22U... you have 4 cameras instead of 3 cameras on the N20U.

The N20U has one ultra wide sensor that gives it the 5X optical and takes it to 50X zoom.

S22U has two ultra wide sensors... one give it the 3X optical and the other gives it the 10X optical. So put it all together for them to give you a range from 0 (.5/.6) to 100x on the app the steps are going to be different one from 1 camera to 2-3-4.

Went to BB to play with one today because I'm considering taking the Samsung promotion for $1000 trade in offer on my N20U I noticed the change in steps...

I don't really care about the .5/.6 difference but I don't like the step to 30X then 100X.

Testing 100X in the store I am reminded 100X is still a hot mess of a gimmick that anything through it looks like L0n3N1nja's Avatar pic above :D

Neat trick where it does it's over processing to clean up the image and make text a little more cleaner to read but still a hot mess.

So I'd prefer the 50X step be included in there because honestly 50X is much more cleaner than 100X and I'd stick with that when I'm wanting to use the zoom like binoculars. But If I upgrade I just have to live with it and will probably learn to like it.

But one take away I got from just a little in-store play time and taking pics and reviewing them in the Gallery... The N20U holds it own pretty well against the S22U even if it can go to 100X and the N20U can't.

You're talking about the Note 20 Ultra and the telephoto lens. I'm talking about the S20 Ultra (which is a quad cam) and the Ultra wide camera. None of the Samsung phones have 2 Ultra wide lenses btw. They have 2 telephoto lenses. I think you're mixing them up. Ultra wide zooms out not in.

Edit: That article is wrong too. It states rhe S22 Ultra has a 2x telephoto lens, but it's 3x.

Oops. Sorry... You said "20 Ultra" twice on your post... thought N20U since I thought I remember you in the N20U forums. My bad.

*Edit: I read the S20U had a 4x optical zoom... gotta be completely different sensors used.

No worries. I'm referring to the 12mp ultra wide lens though, which zooms out. The S22 Ultra has two 10MP Telephoto lenses. One 3x optical and the other 10x optical.

It's 0.6 since the field of view isn't as wide, aka you're losing a tiny bit of the scene due to the narrower FOV. Even my Canon 16-35L isn't as wide at 16mm, so I'm not complaining.
