Did Samsung lose $30 Billion because of the iPhone?

Makes you wonder how many will be put off by this or not.

Not that i was going to buy one anyways, but if i was considering this would definitely kill any desire i had. Hopefully the note 4 will be just as durable as the note 3.

Samsung lists sell in because until recently they didn't have brick and mortar stores like apple does. Thing is though, apple reports both sell-in and sell-through as "sold". They are aware of their own sales in store obviously, but also pad their numbers with "shipped" units. There is no way apple can know for sure how many iphones bestbuy walmart at&t verizon or other retailers have sold until that retailer either reports back to them or comes back asking for more or decides to return the unsold units. Apple has gotten into trouble with this in the past so its really best to just consider apple as a sell-in company aswell.

You shouldn't make stuff up.
Apple reports ell through, not sell in.
So does Nokia, they have to disclose it for financial reporting.

Its not made up, this argument comes up year after year about how apple reports their "sold" units. I'm not gonna pull up links and prove it once again because other people in other forums have reiterated it a 100 times over again for years now. Apple officials have even stated that shipped orders to retailers are claimed as sold. Now, apples numbers hold more weight due to their brick and mortar and web sales than lets say samsung, but still not completely sell-through due to retailers sales.

It's well documented that Apple and Nokia report sell through vs sell in.
But continue to believe what you will.

Back to the point samsung reports sell-in

So how many think that Samsung lost $30 Billion in market shares because of Apple launching the iPhone 6 + before Samsung launch the Note 4

Well, how much can you subtract for all this bad iPhone PR, perhaps resulting from this quick release? :)

New iPhones run into software, bending complaints - Technology - Boston.com

N.b: I don't think it makes a difference. Nothing makes me buy an Apple. And if you're interested in Android, surely waiting a couple of weeks when the Note 4 has already been announced (if there was nothing on the horizon, that might be an issue....) and the S5 is already here, etc, is hardly the biggest deal in the world.

Listen Samsung reports sell-in not sell through.
I'm saying they only manufactured 10 million note 3 and supply completely outstripped demand.
If you want to prove me wrong go ahead but I have combed through every quarterly result and financial statement since then.

I'm not big on phone facts but in this video it's said that 5 million note 3's were sold in the first month... Just seems odd that they could sell 5mil in one month and only have a 10mil total production?

More peculiar things have happened.
The demand for the note was never as substantial as demand for the iPhone.

The note line has sold 50 million phones in totality.

Perhaps the note 4 will sell more, but it doesn't loom like it.

Apple Sells Over 10 Million New iPhones in First Weekend
Don't Apple do this every launch? But my question is this. Are we talking just iphone 6, iPhone 6+, iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s? Which is it.?
