Did the latest OTA kill the Rezound?

at first with the update my phone was working great, even the audio jack noise issue was gone, only untill the last 2 weeks have i had bad battery drain, and issues losing wifi connection when phone sleeps. full battery drain withen 4hours is not fun!

I have seen a decrease in performance since the update. Sure, the phone still works and does whats its suppose to do, but disappointed the update did not improve it and instead made it perform less.

Speeds dropped and battery life decreased, so now I am always on 3G in order to make it thru the day since I listen to Slacker all day. I did not want to blame the update for the decreased performance until I received a replacement phone....

After calling VZW a few times about the update causing the phone to not work as expected, a replacement was sent. I received a replacement with the previous software and after about 4 hours of use, I noticed the speeds and battery life were what they once were, but there seemed to be a problem with the speaker so I put the SIM back in the Rezound with the new software (same location, within minutes) and after a couple of hours of use on that one, the speeds were about 1/3 of the speed on the Rezound with the old software and the battery drained much faster.

Initially, I thought there was something wrong with original Rezound BUT before the update, my original Rezound did not have the slow speeds and battery drain (more than usual)

I am not sold on this update, and see no purpose for it...and since this update is going to be forced one way or another, I am tossing it. Its too bad, it once was a good phone :'(

Talked to Verizon as well. The issue seems to be centered around the Verizon Location Agent (VLA). Check the Marketplace and see all the "1" rating and battery issues associated with VLA. I'm not sure if it was pushed to the phone with the OTA or not. I've not applied the updated version so my VLA is 0.0.0.62. My RZ is only a few days "old" but Verizon did pick up the issue and gave me a support ticket and a tech rep. to work with.

So did Verizon say they are aware of the problem with VLA and are working on a fix?

First, I found the Verizon Tech Rep really willing to work this, so I'd recommend anyone who thinks they're having an issue to call, first 611, then the landline 800#.. We talked over what's online in forums, what's in the market, etc.. next thing I knew I was in a conversation between the Verizon Tech and an HTC tech whom she connected to make it a conference call.

We looked over the HTC announcement of the OTA on their site, the comments in the Marketplace, etc. The HTC said she was writing it up to run by her engineers, and after we hung up from HTC, the Verizon rep. wrote it all up and submitted it to her engineers while I was still on the phone.

I mean everyone's mileage may vary and maybe I got lucky, but sure seems like some wheels are turning on it.. but we all know the squeaky wheel gets the grease.. There are plenty of references to this issue on multiple forums... e.g. PhoneArena, Verizon, etc.

So, did I get a "date", no, but I also didn't get stock answer 13 to question 12.. So call Verizon, let them know what's going on and make some noise about it. :-)

Nice Job!! Sounds like you made some good progress there.

I am still waiting for the OTA and I spoke to Verizon last night and they told me it has not been released yet! What's going on?

well before i rooted and rommed, i had the same battery drain issue after the update... after the update, i would be lucky to get 6hrs on my phone with moderate use. because i was planning to root, i unlocked the bootloader which did a factory reset/data wipe... after doing a factory reset, i got over 15 hours on the stock rom, of course ymmv.

my rezound is working well since the OTA. But I just got it last week, so i didnt really know what it was like before the update. I am unlocked and rooted. I did notice that the weather widget couldn't get my city location the other day when I was in the west side of San Francisco. Maybe that's partly due to the VLA issue noted above? Facebook takes a good minute to load up. Maybe I froze the wrong app or this could be an OTA issue...
