Did you buy a case?

Did you buy a case and if so which one? Nope.

If not, why not? I check Sena's website twice a day, and they have not released an EVO Ultra Slim Pouch yet :(

Have you dropped your EVO? Did the case help? Almost. I performed quite the acrobatic moves & almost fell down in my successful attempt to stop it.

Which case is the thinnest? Sena Ultra Slim Pouch.

I bought the HD2 Ultra Slim pouch from Sena for my Evo. I knew that there was a small size difference but took the chance anyway. I even went to a local Best Buy before the phone was released to see if it would fit. When we put the sample phone in the case, it was hard to put in and take out. In fact, the sales associate was starting to get nervous about me actually being able to get the phone out.

After having the phone for a week, the case has loosened up and the phone slides in and out nicely. The only problem is that the pouch, for whatever reason, does not encase the top 3 mm of the phone.

I bought the white case from sprint. It seems like I get less cell reception when it's on. I don't know. Maybe its just me. I'm thinking about getting a skin instead.

Just bout the limited edition innocase. gonna add some bulk but the protection looks nice. I hate putting cases on my phone. I did the screen protector with my pre but after handling it for awhile the phone feels like its gonna slip out of my hands. It's so slick on the sides. This case provides rubber to really protect it and make it stay in my hand more often.

The case shouldnt just help the fall it should prevent it as well. This one looks like it does that. Hopefully i find out on the 17th when it comes in.

it was reviewed on this forum as well. good pictures here...

I like the simple black gel from sprint. Not perfect but it seems like more proction than a hard case.

Picked up the Amzer jelly case, its been awesome so far. It is easy to slip on and off, has good traction, almost like a bike tire so you wont drop it, doesnt add much extra bulk and slides easily into your pocket.

Honestly I thought I wasnt going to like it and planned to keep it as a backup case and get the body glove, but after using it for a few days I will definitely be keeping it and not get the body glove!

One thing I forgot to add, the power and volume rocker buttons are completely covered and have raised rubber buttons over them. This actually makes them easier to press than when the phone is naked (especially the power button everyone complains about)

Got the Platinum one from best buy, I guess they have 2 versions, 1 just plastic and the one I got which is plastic with rubberized texture to it, feels a lot more secure when I'm holding it

I bought a t-mobile branded microfiber slip pouch for $3.99. I dont like hardcases or large clip cases. Was naked + sleeping bag for the pre as well. At first I wasn't a fan of the drawstring but I did in fact almost drop it today and I caught it by said drawstring.

drawstring pouch? sounds like a PIA getting it in and out for use. looks kind of gay too? what about the risk of dropping it with all the fumbling taking it in and out?

I got the Seidio case, I really like it but I did have to use electrical tape in areas to tighten it up.

I bought two cases... fuschia jelly from sprint and amzer jelly in black.

I've DROPPED mine (in sprint case) from about 4' onto a foam ergo mat over concrete. It bounced/rolled off the mat about 6 times then landed face down on the concrete. i shrieked sometime around the 4th bounce! no discernable cosmetic damage but the battery cover flexes a little more than it did before and it might have aggrivated the light leak/screen issue.

The jelly i bought from sprint is thin and loose. it attracts dust and is kind of slippery. i admit i was removing it to use the evo for long periods of time. i only bought it as a precaution until the amzer case arrived...

the amzer jelly is thick but has awesome texture for grip. it adds bulk but its more comfortable for me to hold than naked. go fig.
there is a raised area on the back that gives plenty of room to keep the camera lense off of surfaces while giving you a recessed area for your fingers. it gives my fingers a place to grip the sides so i dont feel like its slipping downwards out of my hand and it makes it almost feel rounded in the back.
the edge is raised high enough along each side so your fingers dont accidentally touch the screen and it covers over the edge of the glass. it should help to keep dust out!

everyone is going for thinner and i'm totally loving thicker right now ;)

I haven't bought a case yet. I just got my EVO yesterday and am waiting to see if like it before I buy one. If I like it and am going to keep it then I will definitely buy a case for it.

I've got a black "HTC" branded black jel case that my Sprint rep hooked me up with when I got my Evo. It doesn't add that much to the size and it's just thick enough in the back to make the camera resesed a little bit.

I dropped my Evo just about an hour ago, face first on a dinners tile floor. Not a scratch or crack on in.

Works for me.

I got the platinum one from best buy. Have not dropped yet. This case is pretty slim with a nice look and feel.

Got the same one and love it. A lot slimmer than I expected. It doesn't get in the way of typing like the silicone one did for me.

There have been several posts and threads about users dropping their new EVO's that did not have cases.

Did you buy a case and if so which one?

If not, why not?

Did you buy from AndroidCentral?

No case... Just the Zagg full body skin/shield. Never been a big fan of cases. In 16+ years of toting around a cell phone I have only damaged/had to buy a new one once and that was a Motorola Razor I dropped in a sink full will water so a case would have done me very little good.

It's actually a weird thing in that they design cell phones to look great and feel great right out the box. and they always do.... I had an iPhone and never kept a case on it. Tried a few different options but I just didn't like them. I had a Nexus One and I tried a silicone and hard snap on case and the phone just felt and looked so much better right out the box. Then comes the EVO 4G, Phone looked great and felt great right out the box. The full body Zagg (which I had on my iPhone and Nexus One) at least keeps it pretty close to factor out of the box feel and look.......

This is the thinnest case I've seen. $5 on ebay. Multiple colors including black. The lens misses touching by a hair due to the slight extra thickness of the case and the slight upcurve of the phone.

If you get the Platinum/Innocase II, make sure it doesn't have a baggy fit. Many got them (including myself) where the case has some gapping when it's supposed to be a tighter fit. Seidio knows it's an issue and was testing their newest batch for fit. I have to return mine as idon't want an exchange. Like the red one. Much cheaper too.

So it sounds like the thinnest is the Seidio Platinum?

Thanks everyone!

Call seidio and get an RMA. It's defective, and they'll send you a new one that has a tighter fit. It's a known issue as I mentioned in the previous post.
