die lg voice mate die die DIE ahhh!!!!!

Totally not sarcastic, but... what's a Voice Mate? I've had my G3 for a couple months and this is the first I've heard of it.

I avoid VoiceMate like the plaque, as its horrible. However, I never activate it, and it doesn't intrude. It only intrudes when I use my cars Bluetooth....when I use voice commands, it never understands a dang thing I say. I have tried to make Google Now the default (I want to talk saying Ok Google Now from the screen asleep like the Motorola's....) but alas, it was too clughy. There should be a setting to choose. Or LG....get your game on and improve your voice app!

All you had to do is this:

Settings > apps > scroll to all > find voice command > clear cache and data > tap disable > find Voice mate > clear cache and data > tap disable

This disables both apps to never be heard from again. :)

OMG you have no idea how much I love you!!!! I had same issue a person who started thread. Voice memo pops up inconveniently. While I'm watching movies or just on my phone. For so annoying I was ready to break my phone. Until you came along and saved me from insanity. Thank you so much.

Never had voice mate do anything on my phone. I was vaguely aware it existed but I'm not sure if know how to find it!!

Root your phone and freeze the apps called Voice Mate, Voice Mate Engine and Voice Mate Speech Pack with Titanium Backup.

No gator - disabling voice mate doesn't work! What happens when you do that is that it sends you these annoying nag notifications that you should reinstall voice mate. These messages stop whatever you are doing and are extremely aggravating. If you ignore them lg reinstalls voice mate automatically after 24 hours and so I did everything you said every morning until I was ready to set my phone on ?????? And so you say the solution to automatic re-installation is to turn off auto-update in the google store. And yes that prevents voice mate from reinstalling, but it doesn't stop the constant notifications! That's where I started my first post. The only way to get rid of the notifications is to root your phone and freeze or nuke voice mate completely. Its a unique app. Try to get rid of it and let me know if it stays gone.

I had the same problem but I did what I stated and haven't had it happen again.

I may not understand but is there a way to make google the default or do I just have to click on it instead? (all that extra work)

Mine was working fine on my G3 but now every time I open it the mic just goes on and off. Making it completely unusable. Did a factory reset and it worked fine for awhile but I went through and updated my apps I restored it freaked out again. I don't get it.

So I'm a recent convert to android after five years of iphone, which I had gotten bored with. And I gotta say, I *love* the g3, which is pretty much perfect in all respects except for the lg's creepy and intrusive voice mate app. Omg I hate this app! It intrudes randomly on my music at least 30+ times a day asking if I need anything, even though I hadn't said anything. And so I try to turn it off but I can't - there's no off switch! And so ok voice mate screw you - ill just disable the app. But that doesn't work because Im interrupted *twice as much* with notifications to reinstall. And when I ignore those notifications, super-creepy voice mate re-installs itself anyway! And so oh now I'm pissed ("siri didnt do this!!!"), so I turn off auto-update, which is great because voice mate is now gone for good I hope, except that the stupid annoying notifications nagging me to reinstall voice mate still interrupt me 8000+ times a day. Seriously, im obsessed, and im *totally* ready to root my phone to get rid of this goddamned app (bring. it. on. - i should have switched to android *years ago*). And so specifically I want to know if anyone has successfully completely removed voicemate from their phones, or perhaps without rooting, to turn the update nagging off? Because - understand, voice mate must be defeated. I have to kill it!

It is triggered when a headset is plugged in
So when it's wiggled it thinks that a headset was inserted. If using an auxiliary cable, then just upgrade to a super light and flexible cable like the radioshack Auvio brand cable.

I went to settings.. general.. Apps.. Scroll to all touch Voice Command app and disable it, now you will have Google (now) Search for Bluetooth and wired headset activation

Sent from my LG G3 on T-Mobile

Dude I have the same damn problem! It fine with head phone but whenever I plug in an aux cord the voice mate pops up a hundred times with no request. It drives me completely nuts! Other than that I love my G3

You know for a open operating system the inability to remove annoying applications like voice mate is very disappointing...

I found one way , if clear the app data , and then go to google voice settings and tap on "listen from any screen " option it overpowers the voice mate and kills it , so now I can safely listen to music using the auxiliary without any invasive voce mate :))

I have the same issue with voice mate. I may have to root my phone also. this is the most annoying thing that i have had to deal with on a phone in a long time. Samsung has a app like this, but you could disable it! lg should work this out. i also should day i have not had an issue with this until I updated. Something has to give or this phone will be out the window!

I had the same problem. I went to Settings - general - apps - clicked on voice mate - clicked uninstall updates. Worked for me :)

I know that my response is almost a year later, but I felt that I needed to respond by saying that it absolutely does work.

I just got a G3 and this did the trick after MANY multiple calls to LG as well as AT&T.

Absolutely worked for me on the G3. Thought I would have to return the phone until I came across your post.

Thank you Gator!
