Other than the hardware keys being switched, what is the difference? Could I use a OS rom on my OV and then just flash the OV kernal to fix the keys?

Not sure why you would want to use an OS rom when there are several perfectly good OV roms available?

To answer your question, all you have to do is download button remapper from the market, then swap the keys.

S roms are not exactly compatible in many cases (I tried).
Some can work, but not well, while others there is no chance.

While similar, there are some significant differences.

just wondering if it would be an option. plus ive tried all the roms for the OV and none really standout besides CM7.

CM7 stands out because it has been completely worked over from top to bottom.
Unless you go that far, there is only so much you can do. Most of what you see on other roms is just themeing and a different launcher, maybe a few tweaks. It's nothing you can't do on your own easily enough. This applies to the V and the S, most androids for that matter.

Considering the age of the device and size of the V community, I don't think we have done too bad.

im not complaining. i love whats been made so far. just coming from a D1 which has a huge dev community to coming to the OV really is a change. with my D1 i had pretty much anything i wanted lol. guess its time to invest some time into the inwards of the android os!

D1 is like a geeks dream so it's not a surprise that it has a ton of support.
Optimus V, isn't exactly drool-worthy by phone geek standards.

We will (likely) never have that kind of support, but I'm happy for what we do have.

yea we could have the community of the samsung intercept or huawei ascend. where nothing good is coming out and the hardware sucks and everyones mad haha

The intercept's community isn't that bad... They stay on sdx for the most part.

I use S on a V

I was using Zefie's CM7 for afew weeks and just got fed up with the phone also most never coming outa the black screen on phone calls. I flashed the latest NIGHTLY from Zefie for the S and just find it more pleasant to deal with the swapped keys. All but the bluetooth phone calls work for me with the S version.
