Difference between "Tab" and "Note?"

I just upgraded my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 to a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1. It never really dawned on me to ask the question until now. What is the difference between a Galaxy Note vs a Galaxy Tab? Specific details, if possible, would be greatly appreciated!

The Tab family was used before the Note nomenclature for Samsung products and was always used for Tablets. Now, I always thought that for some copyright reason or to keep momentum, Samsung named the Note family as Tabs 2 and 3... I was wrong.

It turns out the Tab family is a more affordable (and therefore, less cutting edge specwise) line than the Note. Here's a comparison between the Tab 3 and the Note 10.1 2014 which, at some point, I thought were the same thing.
