Differences to November version

AT&T reps are completely clueless. Do not believe anything they say, every rep will give you a different answer. I'm not sure why they even pay these people to say random ****.
 
Now that it is confirmed unlocked, how about GPS? Anyone try it to track a run in standalone mode? I've used Wear GPS app to get a lock quickly and then Endomondo and Ghostracer to track runs on the original watch. Anybody try these yet?

So i turned off Bluetooth and WiFi and it would not find GPS. Than i enabled cellular networks(my watch does not have a sim in it but still tried) and it worked just fine.

Weird.
Try this without cellular on: grab the watch by the buckle and hold it with Wear GPS on. I sometimes have to do this to my Nov version to get a lock on GPS. In a particularly bad reception area, I also shake it a tiny little bit, then hold it by the buckle.

This works on the Nov. version, so you don't need to have cellular on and can still track.
 
Just wanted to share my experiences when I went watch hunting on Friday. I visited 3 stores.

ATT authorized retailer- They do not have this watch on hand yet but can direct fulfill and deliver it to your house. You can buy it at full price but need to associate a plan when ordering it. It's a non contract plan so you can deactivate it if you like. I think it's the same way online.

First ATT company store- Did not allow me to buy the watch as a standalone. It had to be tied to a phone line with mobile share. Not even at full price. Ridiculous!

2nd ATT company store- They asked if I had a phone line with them already. I replied no and the associate had to ask his manager if they can sell me the watch. He did come back and say that I could. And as a complete surprise he brought out LG infinim headsets and said I can have it for free with the watch purchased in full. No questions asked. So I left there with the watch, Bluetooth headsets and no need to activate it. I left super happy.


See so your experiences will definitely vary. Luck has to be on your side sometimes.

It's bs that they can't sell it to you. I bought mine full price with no contract from a corporate ATT store. They only had one so i believe that to be true especially considering i had no issues getting it without a contract. It will take a week or two for stock to build up i'm sure. Shockingly i went on a Saturday and nobody got it on Friday. It may turn out to not be as popular as expected but i love mine.

The same happened to me yesterday. I was so mad. Called customer service who said the same, and gave me some BS about only selling their devices to ATT customers, and that activating it ensures I am one even if I deactivate it right after. She got this info from her manager: I say ATT needs some written policies their employees should reference, because " I asked my manager" is a shoddy reply in my mind.
I haven't tried any other stores, and may just keep the one I have, since they release the software update for mine, which allows for calls with BT headphones now. If I can gather the courage to update it.
 
I purchased one at ATT,

they want me to open an account, so I opened, and cancelled it right away after I got my watch

Even they say they were not able to cancel my account, they claim you have to wait at least 2 months to cancel

but guess what just call ATT customer service and they will cancel it in 5 mins

Paid no activation fee/ no monthly payment

Watch cost 388+ after tax

and I can confirm it is unlocked
