different downloads trying

Can anyone tell me why I keep getting messages saying this and that download failed? One was Instagram and another was some game. I don't and never used these things. Is there a setting allowing these things that I need to be aware of?

That happened to me too, this morning I had some apps that I never downloaded, I wonder what that's all about?! I did have a flappy birds game that I downloaded back when I had my old phone, it was from a third party website, I don't know if it had anything to do with that, but I went ahead and deleted it, just to be safe, I don't want malware on my new phone....

That's what is concerning me. These things are items I've never had, so where the heck is this coming from?
