Different versions, interfaces ---

I'm new to Android TV, moving off of Roku since it seems all they're good for is partner disputes these days.

I have an Nvidia Shield and like the interface but not the price. I don't mind putting it on my main 4K movie system, but would like something less expensive for 1080 systems for sports and news. I've tried a couple of the cheaper mini-pizza-box Android TV units and don't like the tablet-like interface that you (practically) have to have a keyboard and mouse for to navigate the Play Store.

Other than that, I want a usb port in case I want to add the same aftermarket remote to all of them.

I tried the FireTV but only can use the Fire Store then, and Tivo stick only works with Tivo (centric) remote.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

The basic Sheild doesn't have a USB port, have to go to the $200 Shield Pro. Would love to find something in the < $100 range for the sets that don't benefits from AI upscaling, Netflix in 4K, etc.

I generally like the look of that one, but don't see any screen shots of the UI. Both the company store and Amazon are out of stock with no forecast of replenishment. Which might just be the situation I'm in right now...

Walmart's onn. Android TV box seems pretty good (and is really cheap). It looks like he was able to add a controller using an OTG adapter.

Thanks for posting this, I picked up a couple today to play with. If I can get the OTG to work for a remote, I think it's the winner.

Personally the Google Chromecast with Google TV is the best Android TV streamer I have used and is just £60 ($50)

OTG adapted got me working with an additional (with channel numbers) remote on the first try. Great find!
