Difficult to return to the "Note" series

As much as I will want to return to Samsung and the next "Note" I have already purchased a new phone and moved on. I can't afford to switch back and it just doesn't make good financial since. It will probably be a couple of years before I will upgrade my phone again. Samsung has lost a customer for, at least, 2 years. Who knows what will be available then. Samsung has possibly lost a customer for life.

I saw a Samsung rep in a Verizon store and told them this. To bad Samsung didn't offer 50% off on a edge; they would have kept a customer. However, I wasn't willing to spend $800 on a year old phone after having the Note.

I think there are a lot of people who are in the same boat. They changed to a different device, and now have to stick with that choice until they can upgrade.

If the Note 8 gets great reviews and no issues, I'll gladly buy it... as long as it's not much larger than the Note 5 that I have, which I will keep as a backup.

The S Pen feature in the Note comes in handy often.

I can't wait for it to come out. The S7 Edge is a nice phone but as a diehard Note user it's a huge step back to me. I'm really missing the UI and that camera. It took fantastic pictures. Fortunately for me my husband doesn't care about having the latest and greatest so he is sitting on his upgrade until the Note 8 comes out then I will give him my S7 Edge and use it to get the Note 8. If I hadn't had that option I would have done what Skatergirl did and purchase a used phone (probably a Note 5) to tide me over until the new Note release.

Waiting inpatiently for the next Note or whatever it's called, for now I'm satisfied with the S7Edge on Nougat 7.0. Miss that Spen though...

Most people aren't going to shy away from the Note 8. The Note 7 was a huge success and arguably the best phone on the market. Fix the battery issue and the note 8 should be even better.

I had a Note 2 and kept it until August 2016 and I bought it when it was originally introduced. So that really lasted a long time. However, that phone was also having battery problems especially when location services were on and I also had a Microsoft Exchange account with the wrong server addresses and that totally heated up the phone. So that phone got fried from being so hot and Samsung replaced the insides. I still have it but it's still tough on batteries and sometimes they tend to expand. Those batteries if permanently installed would expand and explodes. Mine just swell until they don't fit in the phone anymore. So that's actually a protective measure.

So I bought a Note 4 in August of 2016 and I have a ton of batteries for it. They're all Anker batteries and they all seem to be doing very well. When location services is on the batteries don't last as long so I try to keep it off. The phone is fine but I don't think the camera focuses too well. It's also very slow on opening emails and contracts. I'm not sure if that's a reason why I'd change.

So, in order for me to buy Note 8 or some other name for it, I would need exchangeable batteries, it's a protection against the battery blowing up and exploding the phone because before that happens you can replace it. I think Samsung was really stupid to change to fixed batteries and I mentioned that many times to Samsung, but what do I know.

Design engineers are so impractical. Look at what they did to the Conmodore Amiga. I remember telling those idiots on a service called BIX, where they all congregated, that for the Amiga to be successful it needs to offer good workable office programs. Desktop video and games, albeit great, wasn't enough. Again, they knew better and the Amiga, a great little computer, died.

I wish people would stop with the replaceable battery. Not going to happen in Samsung again.

First if the phone catches fire, you can't change batteries.

Second if there are no good batteries available, you're still without a phone. Look at all those who had to change to a temporary phone from one Note 7 to the replaced Note 7. It was not immediate replacement. Those batteries weren't available immediately, so a replaceable battery wouldn't be available.

So hold on to you're Note 4 forever until you decide to upgrade to some other phone with replaceable batteries. There seen to be a few decent ones. Good luck.

I got the S7 Edge, but I will switch to the note 8 whe it comes out. I have enough phones on my plan that I can get the new note every year. I wish that time comes fast enough.

I have the LG v20 and so far I have had no issues. D**n you Note 7 and your fire blasting defects!! I was happy.

I did the yearly upgrade on my replacement phone, so I will get the Note 8 when released, and just before it releases, pay off the phone to get the upgrade activated again.

If they include a user removable battery and a microSD card slot, I would buy it in a heartbeat. I had the Note 3 and LOVED that phone. I wanted to get the 5 but didn't like the fact that it didn't have what I wanted, so I searched for a phone that did. Of the ones that had what I wanted, I went with the LG V10. It's a great phone but it is no Note, IMHO. Convinced the wife to get the Note 7 before the issues and she loved the phone. She too can't wait for the 8.

I felt more betrayed when the pulled the battery/microSD card crap. Battery issues aside, I think the note series "should" bounce back with no problem, again just my humble opinion.
