Hi all,

I am replacing the digitizer assembly on my Galaxy S4 (SPH-L720). I took the back off and tested the new screen and there was no problems. I went ahead and started removing the components and moving them over to the new phone. I got everything moved over and hooked up the ribbon cable for the screen. When I tried to power it on I could not get anything to show up on the screen. What is the cause of this? Is there some of the components that if not hooked up correctly would cause the screen to not come on.

Thanks
Sean

The motherboard may not be making contact with some contact on the frame (you may even have bent the motherboard), you may have left off a connection or pinched a wire, there are a lot of possibilities. That's why I always say that it's cheaper to pay a shop to do the work than to have them fix what you broke.

(BTW, the screen and the digitizer are two different components - they're glued together when you buy a whole screen, but you can buy just the glass/digitizer without the rest of the screen.)

Thank you for your response. I had got a quote to have someone else fix it. $160. I saw that and saw $80 for a new screen and $140 for a used S4 on Amazon. I watched a couple videos on fixing it and thought I would give it a try.
