So I've had my Dinc for a year now and been very happy with it but I'm eligible for upgrade and been seriously considering the TB. It would be awesome to have 4G as I'm already in a 4G coverage area. I welcome any thoughts on making this switch...or waiting for something else.

I upgraded from dinc to thunderbolt when the tbolt came out. I had an upgrade in my pocket for like 7 months, and was waiting for the contract to run all the way out so i could drop a line.

So i ended up getting a used dinc off contract and used that for 5 months or so, and i really liked it. i used Skyraider which was awesome and cm7 of course.

Anyway, the upgrade to the thunderbolt has been awesome bc my device has had hardly any real problems, i also live in a good 4g area and LTE is unbelievably fast, and the phone is all around good.

Also with the tiered data coming if you get a tbolt now you will have unlimited data for 2 years, which is making two year contracts look real good these days.

If i had to do it all again right now, with the phones that are currently out, i would still get the thunderbolt.

Also, if you root your phones, the thunderbolts development is off the charts.

This, this, and this. :)

Had the dinc, droid x, palm pre plus.....take the tbolt....a couple tips...though mine is defective...im still living with it...

Buy the Seido Dock from androidcentral....or droid-life.com...Its a really good fun dock...
Buy the verizon extended battery...helps and its not that big actually...
No need for a case in my opinion unless your clumsy... the screen is gorilla glass also..no screen protector...
Download gps status if your gps sucks like mine....
Install the mr2 leaked update if you buy it before june 30th.

Otherwise i do love the phone...but at the same time i would also love the xperia play and galaxy s 2...if i could have them all combined into 1 phone...it would be amazing, but you will have no regret if you just follow my guide above...lol.

You'll thank me...lol

I'd definitely pick up a Thunderbolt if I were in your position, especially with July 7 (Tiered data day) almost here. Being in a 4G market is an obvious plus, and also, if you've had an Incredible for a year, you'll feel pretty comfortable with another HTC smartphone. The Thunderbolt is essentially the DInc's bigger sibling, and the larger size isn't that difficult to become accustomed to.

So I took everyone's advice and picked one up. Just got home from the store with it and it's downloading a new firmware without me telling it to update...is that normal?

That's exactly what I did by switching from a Dinc to TB, but first also did my due dilegence by checking to see if there were any more HTC phones coming out this year that would be worth the wait, and nothing that I could find. The bionic sounds like a amazing phone if and when it comes out, but hate motoblur. HTC Sense is awesome and 4G is sweet. Sure battery life is a downside to only a 1400mah battery but I got the 1700mah battery and the 2750mah battery and the 1700mah gives it extra juice without sacrificing the size as the 2750mah feels like it gives it double-triple the juice is my opinion and works great just have to deal with thesize and weight which for me is really not too bad but could bother others. Also with updates it will get better. Hope this helps
