DInc2 vs Iphone

Verizon doesn't help the issue bu calling this phone the "Droid Incredible 2". I'm not sure, but I don't believe they marketed the first HTC Incredible as a "Droid Incredible".
I do get people mistake my phone for an iphone, because of the similar size. I don't see any manufacturer concentrating on android phones with a smaller form factor - some of the newer phones make me feel like I'm holding a videocassette to my ear.

The iphone was my next option. Coming from a blackberry bold, i was neutral. What did it for me was the world capabilities. I dont even travel that often (twice a year maybe) but i cant stand having a phone thats limited once i leave the states.
The iphone 4s was not out at the time

Actually, the original DInc was always called the "Droid Incredible", sometimes it was called the "Droid Incredible by HTC" but it always came with "Droid" attached as it was part of their highend lineup.

It also seems like every time they make a smaller device, they market it as "the cheaper alternative" SMH!!!

I have to agree with you guy's. I remember in the late 90's early 00's when small was the thing and damn if they didn't make phones about the size of a lighter! At the time I was like... are you kidding me?
Now I feel the same way with, as grvthang so aptly put it, having a video cassette strapped to my waist.
I still recommend the DInc2 to business associates and friends who want a good solid smart phone and are not sucked into the hype.

Edit: Started a new thread sorry for almost thread jacking on my first post! Trading my Untethered Jailbroken iPhone 4 for a great condition DInc2 plus cash! I cant wait please check out my other thread and help a new guy out! Why stay with an inferior phone when I am a relative tech geek?! Android is FAR superior to the iPhone 4 for people like me! Looking forward to hearing from all you Androids out there!

I've owned two iPhones and wanted to try something different. Big mistake. The Incredible 2 is a joke compared to the iPhone. Yes, it has a little bigger screen, but the build quality is extremely poor. Horrible reception, power button issues, charging ports shorting out are all common problems associated with this phone. I have experienced all three of these problems in the two Inc 2 phones that I've had. The iPhone is rock solid in quality, has excellent reception and you can count on Apple to release frequent updates to add features. I've had one OS update with this phone and by the time it ever gets ICS the next version of Android will be out. Verizon and HTC make a sorry pair.
The Incredible 2 is my daily driver, got an I phone 4 in the house the 16 year old has, The I phone is just so narrow, I mean it works fine in the limited range allowed, see that's the point, its outdated hardware and limited software imho. The I phone is a great starter phone for beginners and kids. Its the status phone to have in high school. Android is for people who want to play with as well as play on there phone. Imho as your knowledge grows so does your taste in phones.
Currently Verizon has the best network and the best android phones.
I'm sitting on my upgrade till the Incredible 3 comes out. Its all subjective and opinion and this is mine.

A joke? Wow, that's the first negative post i hear on this phone. As far as build quality, power button, and charging port, i have never had a problem. As for reception, all i can say is that it did have issues with the reception bars, but that has since been fixed with the last update. As far as true reception, there was never a problem. But that's just my 2 cents worth.

If you haven't heard anything negative about this phone then you either have your head stuck in the ground or you haven't been paying attention. Do a Google search or go over to Verizon's Support Forums and read all the issues this phone has. All the ones I mentioned are ones that keep coming up on the forums. It's not just this phone, these problems have been around since the original Incredible and HTC has done nothing to address the issue.
And from personal experience, it's the worst smart phone I've ever owned by a mile. But maybe it's all relative - of you've never had a good smart phone then you won't realize how crappy this one is. I have had good ones and that's what makes this phone compare so poorly.
Awesome phone. 100% satisfied. Owner of an Inc2 now for 3 months with zero problems. The iPhone is great, and so is the Inc2. This is the Android phone for the masses.

The DINC2 is truly incredible! I was messing with the Nexus and also my friend's new Razr Maxx and both of them had lag when swiping through the home screens. The DINC2 is so smooth and fast it still amazes me. I haven't had any issues with this phone and it has been nothing but a pleasure to use. Super solid, stable, and so much fun to use! After 9 months, I'm still a happy DINC2 owner
Sorry to hear you had a miserable experience with the Dinc 2. I spent a lot of time on this forum before I bought mine and MOST PEOPLE on here are very happy with it. In fact, a lot of people (like me) even think the stock experience is pretty and the phone runs fine. I like 3G (no 4G in my rural small town until 2013), get at least a full day out of it and it just works. Not sure if I'll make a full two years before I buy something new (I really thought I would buy one of the new "Superphones" - Nexus, Rezound or Razr BUT they were all way too big and I still think 4.0" is the perfect size (I hope the Dinc 4G comes out soon so maybe I can get it next holiday season for free). Actually, I think it's going to take the next generation of LTE (28 nm integrated) to get decent battery life out of 4G. Also, looking forward to VoLTE with the next Gen.
The only problem i've seen personally was my nephew had to get a replacement for his microusb slot. I think that is really the only major thing. I think the speakerphone issue depends on whether or not you use it a lot.
I had the first three iPhones, then got a Dinc in April 2010. I never looked back.
There were some initial problems with the Dinc resetting, but that was fixed in an OTA quickly. Since then, it has been the perfect phone. I ran stock for the first year.
I was seriously considering a Galaxy Nexus, but was offered a brand new (unopened box new) Dinc2 for next to nothing. I rooted immediately to run the CM9 Kang/WIP rom, which runs fabulously on the Dinc2... an ICS daily driver.
Can't comment on the stock ROM, but the hardware is awesome and built so well. I'm an engineer. This phone is built like I would expect a quality mobile phone to be built. It's elegant and rugged at the same time. It can be dropped... repeatedly. Unless you're incredibly unlucky, it will survive every drop.
I wish I could say the same for the "quality" of Apple's iPhone. I broke two of them over the years... both on the very first drop. There is no shock absorption in the body whatsoever. Take a good look for yourself. If dropped accidentally, expect it to break. It REQUIRES a case for this reason. It is incapable of withstanding a fall. Who would design a "mobile" device incapable of withstanding being dropped by accident? Ridiculous! It still baffles me.
This goes for the iPad too. They make these things without any ability to withstand a hit, which forces people to wrap them in a protective case, which makes it larger than anything else out there. Duh.
In contrast, once we had to move from one conference room to another. I just gathered up my things in a pile (notebook computer, a circuit board, papers, and my phone) and was walking down a tiled hallway. The phone slipped out, bounced once on the floor and the guy walking next to me accidentally kicked it, causing it to slide across the floor and slam into a concrete wall. The back cover flew off and the battery went flying. Everything snapped back into place and the phone didn't even have a scratch on it! Try doing that with an iProduct.

This is why I left my iPhone 4 after six (long!) months…it offered my no freedom.
