I have just gotten the Samsung USB connector for the original Note 10.1. It works fine with USB drives, SD Card adapters, and my digital camera - but the digital camera when plugged into the Note opens to the Gallery on the Note 10.1 and not as an SD drive. The only place it seems to be able to place the photos that it imports from the camera is to a folder it creates in Gallery that it names "Imported". With the 32 gb of memory on my External SD card I want the camera's photos to go directly to the DCIM folder on the External card. I cannot find any settings in Gallery that will change this. I would rather not have to take the card out of the camera and put it into an SD USB adapter to save the photos to where I have the most storage available.
